Like A Teapot

"Enlightened or not, it is all the very same. Have a cup of tea! "

Jackass crossing border

, ,

There is this middle-aged American guy who moved to Canada a few years ago, claiming that he was put off by Bush's post 9/11 policies. He started a blog with an introduction urging readers to read on to see how his move had won Canadian support and respect. This introduction, full of self-righteousness, is like a sticky post shown at the top right corner of his blog, always greeting the eyes of visitors.

When I came across his blog by chance, I came face-to-face with a post that is most disrespectful of Canadians.

The guy started by saying that he was sitting for the Canadian citizenship exam and a friend gave him a book to read. From the title, I knew this was the same book many new immigrants read in order to pass the official exam. Rather than concentrating on familiarizing himself with Canadian history, political system, geography, natural resources, and other crucial topics, he launched a fierce attack on Canadian taste in the choice of the beaver as a national animal. And he wasn't joking. According to his high-horse view, the vast land of Canada has no shortage of larger and grander animals (he gave examples) and yet Canadians picked a rodent. It is as if anything that is bigger and more powerful were the better.
Leave Me Alone
What is even more unbelievable is that when a Canadian reader made a comment expressing her shock, he denied he had said what he said, saying that those were words from the book he was reading. Jackass!

I would agree that is a jackass. I have many Canadian friends and they are all good people with a great sense of humor. I have a great respect for my international friends.

Way to go!
Besides, nothing wrong with beavers, which are very clever and resourceful animals if you know how they operate.

Yes beavers are. It's amazing to me how they build such elaborate dams. What great engineers and architects beavers are.
