Like A Teapot

"Enlightened or not, it is all the very same. Have a cup of tea! "

The unbearable grayness of being

Last evening when I was preparing to go to bed, I heard a sudden dripping noise in the bathroom. I found it strange as it had been a while since I last showered. Then to my horror I saw the dripping coming from the ceiling, directly into my bathtub.

At that point it was a slow steady drip. But by the time I had tried to find maintenance's phone number to no avail and finally dressed up to go upstairs, the dripping had become serious, like a heavy pouring rain. I knocked on the door upstairs and nobody answered. I did not hear any showering noise but could detect a weak radio or tv sound. I came back downstairs to change my shoes to go to the next building to find the manager. I also took a photo of the dripping but forgot to bring the camera with me. The manager came with me and went up to pound on the door upstairs. I returned to my own place to find a complete quietness. The pouring rain had magically stopped and the swelling on the ceiling had contracted. I was later assured that the matter would be properly dealt with.

This morning I got up early to take my shower in case the maintenance people came in early. I took a look at the trouble spot and saw it was back to normal, as if nothing had ever happened. The ceiling was dry and flat as ever. After shower I decided to sort out some mess, which was mainly old mails containing bills and bank statements awaiting shedding. In the middle of it I found a clean white envelop with no printing on. Just before I threw it into the trash bin like I did with all the other envelops, I decided to keep it for future use. For some reason I also took a quick look at the inside and, lo and behold, found a nice and flat $50 banknote. I recalled that I had suddenly felt kind of strapped some weeks ago in the height of summer. I had pondered upon it and thought that I must have overspent though I could not actually believe it. I also in the next minute found my missing address book!

Sounds like a very peculiar but meaningful day!

That's pretty damned good paint, to form a strong film like that. But I would press the matter further with the super; you may need to have that spot replastered and/or repainted, or there may be some structural damage that needs attending to.

The very last thing you want is mold.
At least you have been assured that the problem will be resolved.

Findiing a 50!
That would be a very pleasant moment for me.

Sorry to hear about the leaky ceiling. Like Robert, I would be a bit worried about mold developing. Since the manager said the matter would be properly dealt with, maybe you could show him the photo and express your concern about water damage and mold.

Very glad you didn't throw your $50 away. And nice that you found your address book!

The yin and yang of luck.

I would keep after the manager to look into where the water was coming from so that it could be repaired. If they don't repair it then it may happen again.

Boo leak
Yay fifty!
I always thought you live a pretty balanced life
Good luck dealing with the landlords and getting your ceiling fixed- once you show them that picture they should stop dragging their asses and get to work fixing things
