Like A Teapot

"Enlightened or not, it is all the very same. Have a cup of tea! "

Dinner at Thai Garden

,

This is the most authentic Thai restaurant in the area. I read about it and had wanted to try it for sometime. I could not find it initially knowing only the street name, forgetting that it is a long street and without memorizing the restaurant name. But then I got to hear about how good it is again on my way when I stopped to ask around about it. It was a long trip, but it turns out to be worthwhile.

It is well known for a very good $ 5.99 lunch deal. I arrived in early evening and found it a bit empty.
The hung "RESTROOMS" sign is large but I did not see it the whole time I was there since it's a bit dark.
I had mixed seafood in green curry. It was delicious. I took the remaining juice home and utilized it fully.

I had very cool dinning neighbours. They had eaten there many times and they know about the other inferior Thai restaurants in the area. While we were all busy eating, I overheard the husband saying "there is no reason we cannot eat this three days a week". We first talked when my food arrived, after they had cleared their appetizers and while waiting for their entrées. They both turned their heads my way and got fascinated at what I ordered. "It is boiling! It is boiling!" the wife exclaimed. I told them what it was that I had ordered. She responded that she had never seen anything that could be still boiling when reaching the table. I noticed they had ordered wraps, Thai noodles, and something else. Later when we were all done with dinner, they asked me to recommend good Chinese restaurants in the area.

I noticed the ladies on my left and right both being very tall and big when they stood up, though not fat.

There, simple as that!Waiting for an Easterly

The random couple seemed nice! I'm glad that you found the legendary Thai restaurant, and that it didn't disappoint. The curry you ordered looks good, but I don't know if I could handle the heat.

The "restroom" sign actually made me laugh; it was surprising to learn that you didn't see it while dining there. Perhaps it was too large?

I have just added another photo and a line that may interest you, Deb. In fact, they reminded me of you.:D

Yeah, I was trying to calculate their heights and thought about yours. Was a bit envious.

Ahhh... I just love the tea-drinking onion head.

As to my height, in theory I should be able to eat more without looking plump. But a lot of theoretical things don't work out in real life.

The sign is invisible because it is too well-designed ... it looks like part of the decor. Perfect camouflage!

I agree.
A large sign hidden in plain view! Damn good design, I say.

Here I go again reading your blog and now it has made me hungry. It is breakfast time as I read this so my hunger should be satisfied soon. Rita is in the kitchen but I don't know yet what she is making. I am drinking a cup of Columbian coffee made via our Senseo machine.

Only in Vancouver would a Thai restaurant be sandwiched between a Fish and Chips shop and two businesses with Celtic Uncial lettering, one of them a kilt rental shop! How's that for cosmopolitan?

Don't sell the U.S. short! I've seen some pretty unusual mixes of businesses here. I know in my area, we have representatives of all the above establishments. I don't know if I could get them all in one photo; however, I bet I could get a photo of something similarly multicultural.

Same here. I have small bones and easily look plump and make my waist disappear.

@Bob: so what did Rita make in the kitchen on Saturday morning? :D

@Shaunak and dW: well, now that you both say so, I have to agree that it is good design. We are so used to looking for that kind of sign on a wall or a door...

@Deb: the more I look at your avatar, the more I feel you look like that giggling girl in the Fun post who was trying out sunglasses.
