Like A Teapot

"Enlightened or not, it is all the very same. Have a cup of tea! "

My two recent purchases

,

I recently made two purchases that make me very happy: Bose computer speakers and a pot of Christmas Cacti. The speakers provide very satisfactory high-quality sound that I had desired for over a year now. I got it with Thanksgiving gift money from family. The flowers was a spontaneous purchase on Monday, a cold rainy day. That day, on my way home after evening yoga class, I stopped by Safeway the grocery store to find a variety of flowers put on sale, most probably due to the lack of customers under poor weather and the misgiving over short life-span of flowers in a heated enclosed environment. I had always wanted a green plant or a small pot of flowery plant for indoors but never could make up my mind. That night the price for the Christmas Cacti was reduced to four bucks from six. Since it was so very pretty and affordable, I instantly decided to bring one home. There were two colours to choose. I chose orange over deep pink.

Great speakers, Bose is known for its quality.
And a nice plant, as well, with still many buds.

Thanks. I am not sure that all of the buds will deliver though. The colour is very much to my liking. It is in reality more orange than shown on the screen. And that fully open flower has lasted more than two full days now and its petals are surprisingly still opening up and bending backwards as much as they can, which I find very interesting.

Since I seem not capable of keeping my pot plants alive, I think I will buy a cactus too. Maybe it will survive Christmas.

The speakers are totally awesome.

The orange color is definitely interesting, and a better choice over pink.

norfrid: I think you should. That flower is amazing. When I first got it there was no blossom yet; now the buds are slowly and steadily opening revealing a real glory - the petals are supple with a healthy shine.

Thanks for the affirmation, Shaunak.

Good speakers help a lot when listening to music. I enjoy music via the Pandora and Slacker sites which are both free. I can find a lot of music that isn't played on the radio.
I would have chosen the orange one too.

I hope you enjoy those speakers ... most pooter speakers are just crap, including my new HPs. I'm contemplating hooking up my two Radio Shack speakers on the wall, but I think I'm gonna have to run the signal through my preamp, first. Oh, well ...

I KNOW you'll enjoy the Christmas cactus ... I've had two for several years and they bloom like crazy around this time of every year. They do have a tendency to get too big and flop over ... I tried to get them to stand up, like yours is, now, but was unsuccessful. Then I realised that every picture I'd ever seen showed them flopped out on a table. Apparently they do that. I'm much happier now that I can stop harrassing them about standing up, and I think they're happier, too. Just give them a big space to flop over on, and they'll be fine. They are not as drought-tolerant as the classic cacti ... I think they might more appropriately be called succulents. So, watch 'em ... when they start looking grey and wrinkly, give 'em a drink.

This brought back memories. My widowed father kept these in a closed-in porch where he lived. He hung his from the ceiling so they could flop over to their hearts content.

I hope your flowers give you much pleasure!

I listen to almost all my music as mp3's, usually on my phone. I also listen to them on my computer, but the sound quality is much degraded (unless I have earbuds on). Maybe I should add speakers to my Christmas wish list...

Earbuds are good ... I have a set that has earhooks, which help a lot. I seldom use the speakers because there is frequently someone sleeping in here.

Bose speakers, hey - quality girl

Deb: I did enjoy my flowers. But they are all gone now and I don't know what would happen next with the plant. As you can see from a newer post, I have got another pot (for the same sale price on another rainy day) but this time the flowers are white. I like your father's flowers too, very much, in fact.

dW: I was very impressed with the quality of the earbuds that came with my samsun cellphone, which is by no means a new model.

Steven: Glad you approved!
