Tibetan Protests In China

, , , ...

Recently Buddhist monks from all-over China, spurred into protests demanding free Tibet. What began as a peaceful demonstration soon turned into a violent protest when the locals joined the Buddhist protestors, agitated by the stubborn stand by the Chinese officials. More than 100 people have died, according to the Tibetans, including 19 they said were shot by Chinese police in the area of Machu in Gansu province.

This situation is grave, also considering that the Beijing Olympics are round the corner. Thus at this time, these protests are thorn in the way of the Chinese Government who have already been accused a dozen times of violating the human-rights while preparing for the much-awaited sports feista. International Olympics Committee vice-president Thomas Bach said a number of top athletes were considering boycotting the Beijing Olympics over the bloody crackdown in Tibet.

The Dalai Lama said on Tuesday he would resign as leader of Tibetan-government-in-exile, who is presently in Dharamsala, in northern India, if violence veers out of control in Tibet and denied accusations from China that he was inciting riots. Also on Tuesday, China's premier Wen Jiabao, accused Dalai Lama of orchestrating riots in which dozens may have died and said his followers were trying to 'incite sabotage' of Beijing Olympics.

The Dalai Lama said he had nothing to hide from the Chinese. "Investigate thoroughly, so if you want to start investigating from here, you are most welcome," he said. "Check our various offices. They can examine my pulse, my urine, my stool, everything," he said with a laugh, miming as he talked.

But the matter is more than a laughing one, while Lhasa burns, the Chinese govt. has waged war, a "people's war" againist the rioters.

According to me, China has two options before it to deal with the protestors in Tibet. It could take a cue from the Myanmar and use force to suppress the protests or negotiate with dissenters, who include a large number of exhiled Buddhist monks. But well, China is not Myanmar. It is a global power and the world expects Beijing to conduct its affairs accordingly, also taking into the account the forth-coming Olympics. The Chinese leadership should invite him for talks. Such a gesture would in a long way to show China in a positive light. It is fatuous for Beijing to imagine that it sweep dissent under the carpet by enforcing a ban on foreigners in Tibet and youtube in China. China could risk international condemnation if it uses excessive force on protesters in Lhasa. After all it should rise to the occasion in any way.

Hungry Kyaa!

, , , ...

I think Muchboos Deyaay is one of my top 5 meals of any cuisine, and coming back home to this meal really hits the spot. I started watching some Naruto Shippuuden while eating the chicken and spring rolls. I don’t care that it was one meal or that it was a lot, I was damn hungry and I went at that meal with a vengeance.

After I finished the meal I laid back and remained stationary for an hour, I even took a 30 minute nap which was nice. I had a KDD Rocket while watching more episodes of Naruto Shippuuden.

12 Most Amazing Weapons, We Don`t Have…Yet

, , , ...

12. Ghostbusters Proton Pack - Ghostbusters

Dan Aykroyd first turns on his unlicensed particle accelerator in an elevator, which shakes with a subsonic rumble as the other Ghostbusters cower in the corner. Turns out special effects can deliver a rock-solid punch line.

11. Rail Gun - Eraser

A railgun is a form of gun that converts electrical energy (rather than the more conventional chemical energy from an explosive propellant) into projectile kinetic energy. It is not to be confused with a coilgun (Gauss gun). Rail guns use the magnetic pressure force to drive a projectile. Unlike gas pressure guns, rail guns are not limited by the speed of sound in a compressed gas, so they are capable of accelerating projectiles to extremely high speeds (many kilometers per second).

10. Freddy’s Glove - A Nightmare on Elm Street

‘One Two, Freddy’s Comin’ For You…Three Four, Better Lock The Door..’ We all know the rhyme, and for a few years, thanks to the industry inundating the screens with Freddy and his nightmares, we were all pretty well frightened, too. Freddy Krueger was a horribly disfigured and burnt walking cliche who also happened to own a killer metal glove featuring four fingers of razor sharp blades. He haunted the sleeping thoughts of the younger crowd ’surviving’ on Elm Street, and more often then not, disposed of them in any number of gory and vicious ways. But, most frequently, he employed the use of his ‘fist of fury’. Very sharp.

9. Portable Burst Missile Launcher - Spawn

The second most powerful weapon in the game, the Portable Burst Missile Launcher fires three missiles per cartridge. It causes tremendous damage, though it has a slow rate of fire and also slows Spawn’s movements while he wields it.

8. Phased-Plasma Rifle in the 40-Watt Range - The Terminator

Even though we don’t ever see this gun in action, the mere mention of it so blows the mind of Mr. Futterman the Gun Shop Owner that we just know we have to have one. And the fact that the Terminator walks out of the store with enough firepower to invade Cuba and still seems disappointed tells you all you need to know.

7. Noisy Cricket - Men in Black

What’s pocket-sized but still capable of destroying a city block?. It’s the MIB’s surprising li’l Cricket. This isn’t a gun to wave around when you want to scare someone, it’s one to whip out when you mean business. And think about it—it’s dainty, shiny, and fits easily into a handbag. It’s the perfect gift for the futuristic warrior woman in your life.

6. ZF-1 Assault Weapon - The Fifth Element

The Swiss Army Knife of assault rifles. The ZF has rockets, darts, tracer bullets, netting, a flame-thrower, freezing gas-anything and everything you need to destroy the universe. The only problem is, a crate of these bad boys will set you back four ancient, mystical stones each. We don’t care if you’re the Sultan of Dubai, that’s some serious scratch.

5. Glaive - Krull

A mystical weapon of unknown origin, the glaive might not be the most versatile weapon on the list—it is, essentially, an over-sized ninja throwing star—but it more than makes up for its shortcomings in style. Even if all you intend to do with it is chop blocks of cheese or scare your cat, you’ll look cool doing it. And it’ll end an “ultimate Frisbee” match in seconds.

4. Lightsabers - Star Wars

An elegant weapon, for a more civilized age.” Whether your particular brand comes in badass red, noble hero blue, or Samuel L. Jedi purple, the lightsaber is such an intimidator, it can even make a two-foot Muppet seem tough. You don’t even have to use it, just flick it on and its unmistakable hum clearly says: “Somebody’s walking out of here without a limb.”

3. Sick Stick - Minority Report

Cops in the future have come so far. No longer armed with lame wooden sticks that are only good for tapping on driver’s side windows, these new sticks make anyone you touch vomit instantly. Seriously—no tequila, no pictures of Britney Spears’ vagina, just a single touch! It’s fun, and it’ll also double as a convenient time-saver for your bulimic girlfriend.

2. Iron Giants - The Iron Giant

What could be better than a 50-foot robot armed with advanced alien weaponry? One that can also babysit the kids! One part nanny, one part War of the Worlds, the Iron Giant would be the ideal home defense choice for families. Kidnapping would practically be rendered nonexistent if we had these things to chaperone the kids at the park or take them to school.

1. The Death Star - Star Wars

Talk about home defense. The only thing more efficient than owning a weapon to protect your house is actually living inside the weapon. The Death Star can entertain a small country’s worth of houseguests, has plenty of parking space, a recycling plant on the premises, and enough firepower to destroy an entire planet. You might want to slap a screen door on some of those thermal exhaust ports, but otherwise you’re living in the lap of destructive luxury

12 Most Amazing Pics From Flickr

Touchscreen isn't the only nice feature in the Mooon+

, , , ...

There's about a hundred different options when it comes to finding a nice, touchscreen-style smartphone and the Mooon+ concept may appear just like another one. Don't look away yet, there is one shining feature about the Mooon+ that makes this unfortunately conceptual cellphone stand out in a touchscreen farm, and it's the integrated and dockable Bluetooth headset.

Sunman Kwon, the phone's designer, made a Bluetooth headset fit seamlessly in the phone's body in the microphone area. Although, the Negative Nancy in me automatically looks to some of the potential flaws with this style of a design and I can help but question the durability of a feature like this. Sure, it looks good, but after a solid six months of use would the headset still fit so nice and clean? Nobody knows, and we will never know, but it's fun to think.

Night Vision glasses by Tag Heuer gives you eyes of an owl

, , , ...

The problem with seeing stuff in the dark is the lack of contrast. That’s what these bad boys from fancy watchmaker Tag Heuer aim to tame, jacking up the contrast to give you better night vision using tech developed for the 24-hour LeMans auto race. You’re not going to be seeing as well as a cat, dog or deer does at night with these specs on, but they’ll certainly improve upon the human eye’s paltry night vision capabilities.

Paltry? Just to give you an idea, only 10% of the light entering our eyes falls on the photosensitive parts of the retina, so we need all the help we can get. No, these aren’t the night vision scopes that soldiers use — those would be far too bulky to look this cool — but these titanium frames with their anti-reflective lenses will fit perfectly under that crash helmet you wear for those night racing sessions.
