Everything for Everyone

STICKY POST

From now on...

, , , ...

From now on I will be posting the same post in English and in Spanish in The Keyboard Guy, in Here Lives the Horror and in The Dark Side. So I don't think I will post nothing new here. In The Keyboard Guy I will post about anything related to technology and about using the keyboard for every task you do with a computer. In Here Lives the Horror I will post whatever I feel about the horror genre and in The Dark Side I will post my short stories (if I ever in my life can write one that deserves being read).

See you later, The Keyboard Fan (a.k.a. Sonoman.X)

The IT Slave - In Spanish

You can read a post about the IT Slave in spanish here. ASAP I will post it here in english, bye.

What kind of file are you?

You can take the test at BBSpot.

I'm an .EXE !!

You are .exe When given proper orders, you execute them flawlessly. You're familiar to most, and useful to all.
Which File Extension are You?

The IT Slave - Technical Data

For those who may be wondering, I will give you some information about my work. I'm a programmer that started programming in RPG/400, CLP and COBOL in a network of 10 to 14 AS/400s interconected all over the country. Then I programmed in Visual Basic from version 3 to 6. I started porting RPG and COBOL programs accessing the AS/400s databases and then I added SQL Servers to the menu. Now I almost exclusively work on web apps in ASP.Net 1.1 (VB.Net), SQL Server 2000 and IIS 6.0 running on Windows 2000 Server. I would like to start using ASP.Net 2.0 next year but I have so much done in 1.1 that I don't know if it's worth the effort to learn all the new stuff. Specially taking into account that MS is surely planning to launch some new .Net version after Vista and all that. OK, now when I say "project" at least you know about what tools I'm using to do it.

One final note. I don't use Visual Studio or Web Matrix or any other thing that touches my code without my authorization. I use PSPad and I hand code everything myself, the vb code and the HTML.

I'm insane :insane:, I know.

The miserable life of the IT Slave - Day Two Update

:D I made it! I was making all kind of stuff not related to The Project and finally I'm just about to go home. And I have all the weekend to end the first part of the project at home... or

The miserable life of the IT slave- Day Two

I have to show today my advance in the first part of the two part project. Of course, it's not ready so I have to find a way to let everybody believe I'm very busy in other very important things that has a very high priority :worried:.

Now I have to go. I'm terribly busy .

The miserable life of the IT slave - Day One

This is the miserable life of a computer programmer slave working for an international company.

Day One

Two days ago I was informed that I have five days to finish the first part of a project and then five more days to finish the second part. That sounds reasonable were it not for the fact that there I have a lack of information I need to do the work and that I'm working on multiple projects at the same time .

Obviously "the powers that be" :king: :queen: allways give you a used match and wet paper to light the fire, and when you can´t do it, it´s your fault because you should have worked harder to complete all your projects on time.

But that´s the IT slave destiny, and to supply the coffe of course :clown:.

See You Later, The IT Slave.

What's happening with the Opera Community?

I've wasted almost three hours of my sleep time trying to access my blogs in the Opera Community. "We have new hardware" they said. "No more monkeys!" :irked: :furious: .

Database Malfunction

There seems to be a temporary problem with regards to connecting to
our database server.

The error message given from the server was: General database connection error

Please try again in 5 minutes time or so. If the problem persists,
please let us know as soon as possible, referencing the above error
message. Contact us at my@opera.com. monkey

If this keeps happening on a regular basis I will have to move to another blogging system (just to be clear: I DON'T WANT TO LEAVE THE COMMUNITY) because I'm trying to blog seriously so I need to be able to post at any time I can.

Bye, Sonoman.X

My Opera Support

One more motive to keep my blogs in the Opera Community.
The other day I sent the following mail to my@opera.com:

It's impossible to use the service. That monkey is always telling me
that there is some kind of problem or so. I was starting to do four
my.opera spaces one of them dedicated exclusively to promote not only
the Opera browser but also the Community in spanish. But it's
impossible... I will move all my four blogs to blogger or wordpress. I
will still make a blog supporting the browser but not the Community.
It's very sad that an excelent product like Opera has a such bad
support in that area that can be used to promote the browser and the
company.

Within minutes, and I mean minutes, I received the following response from the one and only Espen André Øverdahl:

Hi Sonoman.X,

I'm sorry to hear about your issues with using our service My Opera.
Since a scheduled maintenance we've had some start-up problems. There is a
server replacement which will occur next week, which will hopefully fix
all the difficulties both we as employees, and you as a user have
encountered.

The only thing I can do at this point is apologize, and thank you for
the effort you have put in supporting Opera and My Opera.

If you have any questions, concerns or simply something on your mind
do not hesitate to contact me again.

What that means to me is that every one of us, no matter where we live or what we do, are taken int account by the Opera Software staff.

Make Mine Opera!

Look and Feel vs. Content

I think I started backwards. I'm wasting my time thinking about customizing the look and fell of the blogs when I should be generating content for them.

So I will keep the Opera ready made themes for now and when I have enough content in each blog I will start again with the customization.

See you later,
