I have received a great many requests to make a version of Tab Vault for Opera 15, so rather than repeating myself each time someone asks, I'll explain everything once right here.
Am I making Tab Vault for Opera 15?
No. Not right now. Maybe not ever.
But, why not?
- Opera 15's extensions system is very different than Opera 12's.
- Tab Vault relies on a number of things specific to Opera 12. I would need to completely rewrite the extension to work with Opera 15.
- Tab Vault is big. Rewriting Tab Vault would take a lot of time.
- I have limited free time. I would rather do other things with it. I spend my workdays programming, so sometimes I want to do things that (gasp) aren't writing code. When I do want to write code, I have many other projects that are more important to me at the moment.
So, what do I use instead?
Well, you can keep using Opera 12 for one.
You could also request that Opera incorporate some of Tab Vault's features into Stash. I had hoped that Stash would remove the need for Tab Vault in Opera 15. They're both designed to solve the same problem after all. But given the number of requests I have gotten, (including one from Opera themselves!) it is evident that it has not yet succeeded.
See all the "nope"s in the table below? Change a few of those into "yep"s and I think two things will happen: Opera will be a better browser, and I'll stop getting as many requests to put Tab Vault on Opera 15.
