A Little Friday Fun

When our client Teradata introduced its new Teradata Purpose-Built Platform Family, we came up with a delightfully unconventional way to spread the news!

A lot of fun was had at Teradata and casual gaming company 3rd Sense while figuring out a way to educate people on the capabilities of the new family of platforms, while also keeping them entertained.

The end result was a simple (and highly addictive!) game: “How Do You Stack Up?”

Designed to be a tongue-in-cheek play on the idea of “data warehousing,” the game turns the player into a forklift driver whose job it is to catch large boxes of data as they fall from the shelves. As the game progresses, the amount of data becomes overwhelming, the boxes fall faster and faster, and the balancing act on the forklift gets a lot more difficult… but hey, don’t take our word for it, why not have a go yourself!

And one just for the Girls....

Girls will be girls, boys will be boys… well, kinda!

A few of the team made a big night of Social Diary’s Winter Drinks. The theme was Social Diary High – naughty school boys and girls!

SpectrumLife client - gizmo - sponsored the Wilson Brothers racing team at the WPS Bathurst 12 Hour Race that was held on February 10 2008. The Brothers competed in one of the most challenging motor sporting events in the world, and the gizmo car came in an impressive tenth out of 200 vehicles.

The deal signifies gizmo’s first foray into the sponsorship arena and its launch into a series of activities to broaden its marketing reach in 2008.

The race, in its second year, is an extension of Australia’s biggest car race festival, the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 and it took place on the famous Mount Panorama circuit, regarded as an Australian icon and one of the world’s toughest courses. The epic, 12-hour race challenged some of Australia’s best drivers and was televised extensively on Channel 7.

Time to say...

From everyone at Spectrum, we wish you a very Merry Christmas

and hope you have a safe and prosperous New Year!!!

Maiden Mountainbike Marathon

OK…no time for egos here, I had absolutely nothing left to give by the time I finished my first mountain bike marathon on Sunday (11 Nov 07) - I discovered hurting muscles in body parts I never knew I had!

55 kilometres, almost 1000 meters of off road climbs and downhill suicide runs (I’m a new recruit to the congregation that hails the God of Gravity!) and just about every terrain you can imagine. From forest trail to obstacle strewn single track, river crossings (a.k.a. the ‘Early Bath’), open paddock and bloody minded bouldering, I completed my first Vaude Highland Fling event in Bundanoon in the Southern Highlands in 5 hrs 8 mins.

The time doesn’t win any medals but a fantastic weekend of man and bike in not-so-perfect harmony where we enjoyed some stunning countryside, met some great people (thanks again, Ali, Mick, Andy, Dan and Dean) and a never ending stream of great craic and camaraderie.

I have to raise a glass to the ever-present support crews of event organisers, Fire Brigade and SES volunteers – they were fantastic and helped deliver a seamless, massively enjoyable day…even down to the much welcomed plate of pasta at the end!

Some pics below (thankfully low enough resolution so you can’t see my gritted teeth) and for the bikies/techies, there are route and elevation details with a Google Earth flythrough of the course as well.

Looking forward to next year already (and apologies again to my 6 year old for having to leave his birthday celebrations early )

Congratulations Driving Miss Stephanie!

A BIG WHOOPING congratulations to Miss Stephanie from the Spectrumettes for successfully getting her P plates today!

Well done my dear - we were all thinking of you being out there in the rain (even though you kept it quiet and thought that none of us knew what you were doing.........).

Ya sexy thing!

Last week we had a very successful YouTube Australian launch. 40+ journalists attended and covered the event (plus over 200 consumers by invitation only). Great coverage was achieved in online, print and broadcast media.

And.... just because I can (heehee), below is a picture of Sax looking very sexy in one of the YouTube shirts!

(poor guy, they only had small sizes left... lol!)

Pink Ribbon Breakfast

We recently had a Pink Ribbon Breakfast to raise money and support breast cancer research. A fun morning was had by all, especially as we got stuck into pink food, pink bubbly and pink alcoholic ciders!

Above are some of the guys who dressed in pink. We particularly liked the boys in their pink shirts!

Intel Enterprise Day

Earlier this month, we organised an Intel briefing dubbed ‘Enterprise Day.’ The event provided an opportunity to brief the Australian media on how Intel is catering for the enterprise business sector with its end-to-end solution, while launching the new Intel Xeon 7300 series processor and next generation Intel® vPro™ processor technology. Feedback from the media was that they loved the opportunity to speak with the variety of Intel customers, partners and OEMs on the day. More information on the Intel Xeon 7300 can be found at Intel's website.
