Spring

Would you believe it been snowing for the last hour or so, This week has also seen the first day of the year with a hint of warmth to it. The same day I had to go to the hospital for some tests. It seems that whats wrong isnt what they thought was wrong, I`m getting used to results like that though.

?

I have a longing to get away, just hit the open road. Head for the mountains or the woods. Leave the real world behind. Breathe in a place I have never been before. Wonder what is around the next corner.
And for a guy who hates change.... I need some.

Now its seems that I may be going to London Later this year, my leg and other health permitting. But before that I think I need somewhere more sedate. We were thinking of Birr and its famous Castle.
there are the near by monastic ruins of Clonmacnoise right on the Shannon. The Slieve Bloom mountains are located in the area, covered in forests and blanket bogs. It must be worth a photo or two hundred.

Hopefully before the end of April if the weather improves a bit we will head off.

A Tall Tale
He punched the wall, leaving shredded skin on the rough concrete surface. A hint of pink in the grey.
The endless drudgery, the monotony was getting too much.
He had it all, but it wasn't enough. The joys of childhood were far behind, no matter how hard he tried the little things could never bring the bright shining euphoria to his mind anymore.

He had Grown Up.

Would that class as a short story?
Or is it just a paragraph?
Which ever, it is the first bit of fiction I have put down since my school days.
I do not harbour thoughts of being a writer and have not for years now, definitly a reader not an author.
There are few things in the world to top the feeling I get when I first pick up a book I have never read before. The potential of what may lie between its covers gives me a rush. The stories, the knowledge, theres nothing like it. I have rambled on for more than long enough.
Beware the tyranny of your own brain!

The Calm Before The Storm

, , , ...

There is a big storm brewing up out in the Atlantic, poised to decend on Galway in the next couple of hours ( and the rest of Ireland too of course). To be honest I really enjoy a good storm, makes me feel alive. But 170kph gusts may be taking it a bit far.

These photos are from a couple of weeks ago, top one is from Silverstrand and the othe Ballyloughan
Even as I type the wind is building and some serious looking dark , almost black clouds are closing in. So I had best post this quick before the power or the phone lines go.
See you on the other side............

Shots from Ballyreen near Blackhead in Co.Clare, Ireland 7/2/08. A beautiful rugged piece of coastline that despite its wildness sets my mind at ease.

Dedicated, as are all my photos, to my wonderful Mrs Sprogger.
Without her none of this would be possible.

And Now For A Change

, , , ...

What do you know!! No real change at all- more sunset shots.
And still more of them to come. Just need to get organised.
I haven't done a tap of 3D work since before Christmas. Every time I start up modeler I end up closing it down a few hours later with nothing to show for the time. Its that whole blank page thing that the writers and artists out there will know all too well.
Its the empty screen, its almost hypnotic.
I think I need to go back to something that I was working on way back, Some of you may remember the navigator, my most chronically incomplete project. I have been doing bits (really small bits) on him for years it seems.
Perhaps the familiar will snap me out of it?
