Phone is not receiving calls
Internet is currently working
this whole thing seems to be an underhanded attempt by eircom to gain back customers it lost to Smart.
Eircom owns the phone lines in Ireland, Smart Telecom leases from them.
Smart telecom is in arrears by 1.7m euro in its payments to eircom, as someone else said "the cooperate equivalent of a cup of coffee"
It seems the timing of the stunt by eircom is more than a little convenient
1. Happens at the same time as the media is distracted by a story about the "leader" of our government receiving payments from businesses
2. the immanent court decision on the last 3g licence for Ireland, a decision between eircom and smart.
I could rant on about eircoms constant delaying tactics and court appeals which has almost single handedly slowed to a crawl the deployment of broadband in Ireland, But then I would not be giving full credit to ComReg(communications regulator & Eircoms lapdog) for their part in this debacle.
