welcome to annoying town, john dee, music, album
...

My band
dOMi's debut album, Welcome To Annoying Town, is finally done and available on
iTunes and
Amazon!
After about a year og going in and out of studios, our producer/engineer Andreas Eide Larsen also being busy producing other music in London, we are finally able release an album we are thoroughly proud of! Packed with eleven tracks of rather relentless metal and ska inpsired punk, we're hoping this record will rock your socks off!
The release concert was held on 29th of August at John Dee in Oslo and was quite the success, with a 200+ crowd creating a very positive and energetic atmosphere. My highschool buddy and ex-drummer Johannes Koch even made it out to see us, which made it all the more special. To see some pictures from the event you can have a look
here!

...SO! Should you want to hear a few songs, or even purchase a copy of the album (digitally or CD) then
head on over to our official website!

nofx, punk, domi, live

You read that right!
dOMi won the right to open up for NOFX at Sentrum Scene on June 27th after competing against 40 or so other bands from all over the country.
It became
NRK P3's Pyro along with a jury panel's decision, so
they set up a contest and only yesterday
aired the results. NOFX is probably the most influential punk band for me, them being the reason I love and play punk rock music. Needless to say we're all very stoked!
So if you haven't already
scored your tickets then now is the time to do so!!!
Also worth mentioning is that our album, Welcome to Annoying Town, is scheduled for release at John Dee August 29th.
Check out our website for a brand new preview site!
Rock on!!

The bass is done!

The other night we rigged down all the bass gear after finishing recording of bass tracks on the last song on the album. We got some seriously killer stuff going for all the songs, and it it already beginning to sound great even as just a rough mix of drums and bass.
Rob is happy to have a little break, and soon it is time for Frank and Magnus to step up to the plate and start the recording of guitars! Upwards and onwards... towards 11!

skambankt, drammen, domi, live

This friday we had a nice gig at
Union Scene in Drammen, where we were set to warm the stage for
Skambankt! They are a great band and have been doing very well both with video airings on TV, album sales and live shows so it we were more than happy to get everyone in the audience nice and warm!
The place was rather packed and we delivered as we always do, with punch and precision. Maybe that last one is debatable as we've been focusing on recording stuff instead of live performances lately... Regardless, we had a great time and it seemed like the audience did as well!

Thanks to Skambankt and everyone who showed up (special thanks to Erlend and Stig!) for a great evening,

The drums are done!

Simen did an excellent job and the recording of all 11 tracks drumwise has now been completed. Several meters of sports tape, a few gallons of blood and 5 days after we started, the final track was laid down. If this level of intensity keeps up then this album is going to hit hard and take no prisoners.

Good work Simen, you and your hands deserve a rest!

We'll be joining up with our buddy and producer from the
Go Away single Andreas Eide to spend a few months in the studio recording an eleven track album set out to blow your head off!

We will be updating this blog actively with updates from the studios with gossip and pictures so stay tuned!

Some 3 something years ago I played my first gig with
dOMi at a place in Oslo called Gamla. This saturday we once again had a show set up there, along with
Supermonkey and
MoccaCellar.
Early on people started pouring in, and MoccaCellar kicked off the show with a kick ass set - followed by our good friends in Supermonkey who once again rocked the house severely.
By the time we went on to finish off in a brutal manner, the place was packed with a very happy, enthusiastic and generous crowd who straight off the bat gave as much of themselves as we poured out on stage. A great show, thanks to all who showed up and made it an epic evening - see you next time, ROCK ON!

Another
Domi update, we just played Østsia in Kristiansand which is a good 5 hour drive from Oslo - despite 10 hours in a car the trip was well worth it; A sizeable crowd (over 300 paid to get in), a good show and a proper round on the town easily weighed up for the travel time. It is also Simen's home town so it was fun for him to dOMinate at home!
Supermonkey were with us as is usual these days, and together we put on a great package and really enjoyed ourselves.
Click here for pictures, all taken by our number one fan Erlend who came all the way out from Oslo to celebrate his birthday at a Domi show! He did, of course, get to come up on stage while we sang Happy Birthday for him.

If you're in Oslo and have the time make sure to come to Studentsamfunnet at Bislet this tuesday to catch Domi and Supermonkey (+3 other bands)!

The weekend is nearly over, and thursday and friday
Domi had a couple shows.
Thursday night was with
SuperMonkey and
MoccaCellar, and turned out to be quite a good show. The dudes in both SM and MC are real cool dudes making for a very cool evening all round.
Friday night was in downtown Oslo with
SuperMonkey, and half an hour before SM were set to go on we were quite nervous; Only 7 people had shown up so far! Thankfully people started poruing in and the atmosphere was quite good while our good friends of SM kicked some ass. Surprisingly enough, by the time we went on stage we had a very sizeable and excited crowd ready up front - and the energy the crowd gave us was channeled right back at them making for one of the best
Domi shows in a long time!
We'll be hitting up Kristiansand amongst other things soon with
SuperMonkey, and we can't wait! Be sure to catch us if you can!

Figured it would be time for another quick
Domi update!

I have over the last few months been in contact with someone I met over at the
ESP Message Board who showed some real great drawing talent. I approached him with the prospect of designing some stuff for Domi merchandise and he was cool enough to agree, thanks Brono! We will most likely be printing out some t-shirts when the designs are ready and there will in all likelyhood be a cheaper version with only one color print on the front in some different color shirts, and a black/white shirt version with color print on front and back.
You can see to the left the latest design for the back - a great looking Shepherd with a Domified shepherd's hook

In other news,
The Shepherd had been granted a place on this years DOA (Dean Owners of America - a world wide association despite the name) CD which will be available sometime in September. Some good exposure for us, there are already 4 Dean endorsees on this years CD, and also Dean Zelinsky himself has a careful listen to this CD!
Last but not least, here is a list of our upcoming concerts in the near future, come out and see us - the more the merrier!
UPCOMING DOMI SHOWS:
- 07/09/06 Martins, Lillestrøm
- 08/09/06 Amplifier, Oslo
- 21/09/06 Østsia, Kristiansand
- 22/09/06 Kragerø
- 26/09/06 Studentsamfunnet Bislet, Oslo
- 11/11/06 Gamla, Oslo

domi, movies, finland, tampere
...

A while back, a good friend and colleague
Ivan Kuznetsov got me in contact with
Alexander Savin, a filmmaker and friend of his. Alex, working for the finish company
Karisma Films was scriptwriter and operator for the movie "Leijonan sydän", and after hearing
Domi wanted to know if he could use some of our music for the movie. I thought this was a great idea, so naturally
Domi agreed!
The movie is now done, and Ivan wrote some about this movie which was filmed in his home town of
Tampere:
"Leijonan sydän" tells about a teenager Leo (played by Markus Kosonen, who is also a producer of this movie). Leo is really passionate about hockey and wants to dedicate his life to it. But eventually he finds himself playing at the expense of school, relationships with his girlfriend Jonna (played by Irina Ritvanen) and health.
It is a movie about growing up, learning to make important decisions yourslef, friendship and love. Good humor, dynamic and realistic sports filming, philosophical dialogs, make this movie worth watching.
[..]
After "Leijonan Sydän" was played in Plevna and Niagara movie theaters in Tampere, rights for TV presentation were sold to YLE (Finnish Broadcasting Company) for the next ten years, so you have a pretty good chance to see it on TV.
Can't wait to get my copy, I do hope there are English subtitles as I am rather low on local Finish friends at the moment. The Domi songs used in the movie were the classic
The Shepherd and an old ballad called
Away From Home.
You can see a trailer of the movie here.

music, live, lillestrøm, byfest
...

Yesterday, the Byfest in Lillestrøm really kicked off with DDE as headliners outside at Torvet in the middle of town. The weather was great and it was set up to be a memorable evening. Us in Domi had the pleasure of warming up the stage for this notorios Norwegian band, and at 19:45 we kicked off.
Halfway through the first song the power went out!

We must have been playing a bit too loud...

Then, when power returned and before the song was done, I ended up breaking a string - luckily I had
my new Dean V at hand! It instantly blew me away, as this is the first time I've played it thorugh my rig.
Rest of the gig went without a hitch, and although there wasn't really a big crowd up front, there were still quite alot of people there and I think that many of them had a great time
Check out the pictures here! The local newspaper, Romerikes blad, had
a nice article about the event (roughly translated):

Four year old Peshawa Rah from Strømmen is not sure if he will like all the music. Together with mom and dad he went to Torvet when Domi fired up their powerpunk, as if there was an F16 taking off from Kjeller.
Kai Roger Olsen on the other hand was beaming. Even though he is a man of 47, he likes youthful energy.
- I will never get sick of this. Its supposed to be loud at concerts like this, he says.
A positive attitude.
85 year old Musser Bråthen let powerpunk be powerpunk. Instead she strolled happily through Storgata.

Like
my main man Biggy Steves writes, WC06 is on and I think it is time to bring the "30 years of hurt" to an end and bring another Jules Rimet home!
As is probably obvious by now, I have always been a huge England fan but also keepings a place in my heart for Holland as well. Saturday saw Englands first game against Paraguay, not the most inspiring of games which at least ended with a 1-0 victory. Holland also managed with a 1-0 win in the important game against Serbia and Montenegro, so we're looking at a good start so far!
After the game we headed out to our new rehearsal spot out by Fornebu for more alcohol consumption and Domi rockage!
Check out the pictures here.
