Here's a little story by the BBC on a man, a Dalit, who's started his own grass-roots newspaper to battle injustice and social inequality.

Courtesy of Opera Members, NOLA_1977 and Ricewood, found a nice alternative to imeem.com (my page is bigsaf2.imeem.com) called blogmusik.net
It's like an online storage Jukebox which is nice and very simple. Enjoy
. Thanks again to NOLA and Ricewood.

Might sound like stereotyping here, but while I was in the States last weekend for a couple of days, I saw a burning car on one of the highway ramps when I was driving in Detroit on it's expressway. The media images of Detroit riots came to mind. L8r though my Brother-in-law told me tht it's a common thing around the area but not for the reasons of violence as most think. Apparently many ppl who can't seem to get by burn their cars to claim insurance. However it's a common occurance and i'm pretty sure the cops hv picked up on it now. So thought I share tht.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/6900129.stm Not really my department but wanted to share this story with the Opera community. A Los Angeles Cardinal of a Roman Catholic Church just offered an apology yesterday and agreed to a financial settlement worth $(USD)660 million for 508 victims of abuse.

Here's my BBC activity on the Have Your Say(HYS) Debates from 28th May to today's...Enjoy!
DEBATE: The wonders of the world: Your reaction SENT: 09-Jul-2007 01:19 COMMENT: The number 7 is too small to cover all the Wonders of today's World. The original 7 covered The Mediterranean and Middle-East only. 1000's of years has collapsed since then. Today's current Wonders are so many that entries should be extended to at least 10 to 15 to accomodate the rest of the world, despite 6 of the original wonders being non-existent. Time to detach from the sentimental value #7.

OK Transformers...Well, the movie had awesome special effects and the jokes were nice and of course Megan Fox, who seemed to care more for Bumble Bee more at the end than Shia. Luved the way Optimus killed Bone Crusher. And he had that awesome speech on freedom for sentinent beings...very Shakesperean.
Why, oh why, did they hv to give him lips...it just ain't optimus! It had a gay ending which really negated the whole Optimus vs. Megatron. They're relationship was painted as more of a Xavier vs. Magneto, dumbing down the all evil that Megatron was portrayed with in the toons, with giving him a reason for his 'evilness'.
For some reason the writers painted Bumble Bee as a stereotypical alien non-speaking robot that forms a bond with a special boy that u see in the cartoons. A little wasted there, but u do feel for him, though it just ain't Bumblee Bee.
A lot of weird stuff close to the end, such as Secretary of Defense brandishing a rifle(ironic touch?). Anyways, all in all a good movie to watch at the cinema. U won't be overly disappointed with the portrayl of the decepticons and the autobots, which reminds me, they could hv done better with Star Scream but they did show him as the king of the skies and u got a sense of his power from Iron Hide's pointing out his imminent attack.
Anyways, where was I...yea a good movie to watch on the big screen. It'll hardly be a classic but it isn't ruined that most die hard critics claimed. So my recommendation...enjoy it on the BIG screen!
