I usually don't celebrate birthdays, nor do I write much on the latest media fads or petitions.
I'm taking opportunity of Alan's upcoming birthday to address the dangers all journalists face to report the facts for us. It's true they too are part of the scene they're reporting but they try their level best to be objective. But there's one area where they are not objective. The practices on basic human ethics. They point us to the social ills, whether it be Darfur, the slave girls in India, child soldiers in Africa,climate change,first-world government misconduct, and when it's good, world historical events.
