DEBATE: The wonders of the world: Your reaction SENT: 09-Jul-2007 01:19 COMMENT: The number 7 is too small to cover all the Wonders of today's World. The original 7 covered The Mediterranean and Middle-East only. 1000's of years has collapsed since then. Today's current Wonders are so many that entries should be extended to at least 10 to 15 to accomodate the rest of the world, despite 6 of the original wonders being non-existent. Time to detach from the sentimental value #7.

SENT: 03-Jul-2007 08:24 COMMENT: I'm impressed with the security response.For those tht think xtra security is a silly rxn,then consider this:The unexploded bombs would hv killed many.Worse-it slipped the intelligence security.B'coz of alert officers and citizens,it was avoided.Very likely threats exist tht intelligence has missed.The Glasgow attack proved tht.Had the sickos done more planning,the damage would be worse.Police hv been swift,calm coming up with results.I don't c the govt fanning fear despite real threats

SENT: 30-Jun-2007 05:16 COMMENT: I pray for the victims.I doubt the govt had put aside money in the recent budget on disaster relief.More pain for Ethnic groups.I can't believe some responses full of apathy on the suffering and don't want their govts(who can help)to send aid due to petty politics."They bomb us..","..they protest against Rushdie,now want our help?","They never helped us..".Do u hear ur racist,mean selves?I,via Pak charities,donated to Katrina,despite Pak's stooge role for US and faced racism there.Sad.Shame on u

SENT: 30-Jun-2007 04:44 COMMENT: To say a nation can deal with any disaster without any damage is untrue. However, every nation can REDUCE casualties,fatalities and damages tremendously by organizing proper disaster prevention,recovery and relief programs.Unfortunately,like everything else in Pakistan,from proper housing to electricity to proper sewage drainage,there's apathy and mismanagement on such issues.Seems nothing was learnt on the subject of relief management,among others,since the earthquake not too long ago.

DEBATE: Should China be made to curb emissions? SENT: 21-Jun-2007 03:26 COMMENT: UN Incentives and sanctions on environmental goals should be considered.I find this improbable though,given how powerful countries like the US can shriek away from such responsibility themselves.China can take the same stance given it too is part of the security council.China needs more energy for its ppl,no denying this,but it needn't add to the region's(India,Pak) already polluted environment woes.Investment in new Tech and education can change this,and let them prosper.Can the UN push this?

SENT: 14-Jun-2007 02:03 COMMENT: I'm proud of Canada's role in Afghanistan.The Taliban and Al Qaeda were always a threat.However the Taliban is blowback of the Americans CIA operations,using the Afghani's to fight their proxy cold war and then tossing them aside.After the tragedy in NY and given a chance to fix that,the neo-cons turned their attention to a fake war in Iraq instead of sincerely finishing the job to find OBL.Hence prolonged int'l disenchanted troop prescence cleaning the US mess,Afghani suffering and terrorism.

SENT: 03-Jun-2007 09:55 COMMENT: At Schipol airport,I stood in line to hv my carry-on screened.I needed 2 trays for my personals.An old European man behind me gave a tray.I smiled and meekly said 'Thank U'.I'm usually shy.I fumbled my laptop as the 1st tray was on its way.Finally I got it out.I picked up the tray behind me.He glared:'EXCUSE me,this is my tray!And u didn't even say Thank U for the last one!'.Shocked,I meekly said sorry,picked another from the tray pile.I must hv been another rude young guy to him.Who was impolite?

SENT: 29-May-2007 13:49 COMMENT: Mr Robert Stein,nice tht u know enough to quote the Quran from 2 different chapters,3:151,9:1.Pls look at the verses b4 and after said verses,their history and connected meaning.The treaty mentioned in 9:1,was lop-sided as many Muslim rights were given up for peace,was deemed the GREATEST victory.No Jihad had been called such.Iran had early on put forward a compromising peace proposal.Washington rejected it.BBC has it. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hudaibiya news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/6274147.stm

SENT: 29-May-2007 12:53 COMMENT: These talks will help.Iran and the US are not innocents,for me,the US more so.But they wield power which can achieve peace,even if it's for their own gains.Had the US accepted the surprisingly comprimising peace proposal by Iran,some years back,which the hawkish Cheney and Rumsfeld rejected,perhaps Iraq would have been better off alot earlier.

Thanks. i doubt any of them made it to the Show. Though 3 of the above did get published on the forums. That's 10 all in all on my side. Smoke-Free England,Forgotten Politeness and 7 Wonders of the World were published. All the news-worthy stuff were ignored!
