Britions of Pakistani Origin being restricted

, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

The American embassy in Britain has denied any imposition of a restriction on UK citizens of Pakistani Origins. If the report was true, most would have seen it as racist, but others would point it out to be necessary. Though I'm Pakistani, I agree with the latter. (Warning LOOONG rambling uncoherrent Post).

The American embassy in Britain has denied any imposition of a restriction on UK citizens of Pakistani Origins. If the report was true, most would have seen it as racist, but others would point it out to be necessary given the recent pattern. Though I'm Pakistani and have relatives who are UK citizens, I still agree with the latter.

Why? There's a sad pattern amongst the youth of the Pakistani community everywhere, may it be Britain, Canada or the US. They seem to see themselves being seriously persecuted or people of their kind being persecuted by first world countries and feel the need to create a drastic action. Though persecution of Muslims maybe true around the world, why they themselves, living in suburban middle-class homes (yes the 1st world country system is not entirely conducive to their life-style and may also restrict them in moving ahead in certain fields, but the system there is perhaps better than most other countries of their origins), would resort to such extreme measures of violence without warning.

This problem isn't restricted to Britain only. Canada has a terror trial of Canadian citizens all of whom ,except one, are of Pakistani origin. Then you've got the young Pakistani's in Pakistan itself who are joining Jihadist groups.

There's a true hate around the world for American globalization, by virtually every ethnic group. Most perceptions of American activities are true. But why resort to barbaric actions against civillians? It has to do with false interpretations and lack of validation of their religion. A strong radical extremist Salafist and Wahabist movement has taken over Saudi Arabia and spread further to both the East and West. Leaving most Sunni Muslims confused and truely without a proper united framework of rules and regulations by educated scholars, rather being the judge of their own religion themselves and taking for granted the idea of Jihad without really understand how and why it's conducted. The extremist seem to have foresaken everything in this world and deeming it unnecessary. What's ironic is you need this world as a means to attain salvation. Hence meaning the end doesn't justify the means. The ethical code must be followed on every single step. Something the Pakistani youths lack. They are prone to innuendo, violence, taking matters into their own hands (vigilantism),looking for acceptance in the name of religion (and perhaps Arab brothers), illogical interpretations, rumours of anything unIslamic (even whether it is true or not) and intolerance of anything other than what they see (u r either with us or against us).

There are many examples I could give of how confused and crazy fellow Pakistani's have become despite incredible intelligence and potential. But I'll save that for later posts.

As much as the Pakistan government may want to deny it...our country is a hotbed for terrorists. This can only change with education, law and order and economic wealth in the country. That won't happen any time soon. As for those overseas of Pakistani origin...someone needs to tell them straight forward...do not be a Salafi or a Wahabi. Learn to criticize and analyze interpretations made of Hadiths, Sunnahs and the Quran and do not take it as face value (the interpretations that is, I belive the Quran is absolute. I cannot say for the Hadiths and Sunnahs because I truly believe people over the years have deliberately changed wordings and history, which the Saudi government is doing by destroying every marked grave in Makkah and Medina). I have heard many loosely saying something was authentic without mentioning what the source was. Why, I don't know. This issue is very baffling. Though I understand the problem, sympathizing with it is just wrong and people need to take responsibility. So if the Americans need to take this action...you simply can't blame this...at least this restriction.

Hopefully I made at least some sense in the jumble above.

Terrorism is an unavoidable consequence of inorganised religion. In Pakistan Islam is and has been open to various interpretations that are given by Mullahs who in the first place aren't qalified to talk about it. The reason why Pakistanis are generally against the rule of religious groups, as they understand that these people neither have the desire and means nor qualification to deliver much. Even an uneducated person on streets understands this fact very well. A small group of Pakistanis however, adhered to a certain ideology is misguided by the extremist elements today, but most of these extremists came to Pakistan as foreign fighters for Jihad against the then USSR's occupation of Afghanistan. Although it is now pointless to talk abou it, however the entire responsibility of how Pakistan became home to some terrorist groups, does not just rest with Pakistan alone. To some extend shared by her Arab neighbours such as Saudi Arabia, and our then Western Allies. Believe me that in the 60s and 70s the thought of killing civilians for a religious cause and terrorism was incoceivable for a Pakistani citizen and it remains so for the majority to this day. The proof is that Pakistanis whenever given a chance to choose their own leaders, have always rejected religious groups and political parties.

Hi,

I c u're new to the community. Welcome. Inorganized religion is really wht it is. Good phrase. Though u may point out that majority of Pakistanis don't want it...true but i'll have to disagree with the wording. It's tolerated. That's the problem. The same way the SSP were tolerated in the 90's. The same way guns are tolerated today. The same way giving 50-500 rupees to the police man who pulls ur car over to allow u to go is tolerated. Corrupt politcians are tolerated, coups are tolerated. WE don't want it. It's tolerated. And when u tolerate, the few who practice it with purpose will win. The MMA winning the large number of opposition seats is proof of such and sets a scary precedent and perhaps because we tolerated it as we do Lal Masjid. Simply saying most don't want it doesn't help(as most Brits would point out,tht we tend to turn a blind eye to radical Islam and hate speech). Unless u change ur attitude to we won't allow it(without going violent), that will help. This can only change with education, law and order and economic wealth in the country. These are keys to stability and true rebellion. Thanks for the comment. Hope to read from u soon. I'm part of a group: my.opera.com/blogthings
It's nothing gr8, a few funny quizes but fun ppl to meet. If u like u can join. Thnx.

Hi friend, good to read your message again. I agree with you mostly, just trying to figure out how we got to where we stand today. Many of our problems stem from and points back to the unfortunate few years of the military rule under Gen Zia-ul-Haq and thereafter. In my opinion extremism and sectarian organizations werent just tolerated but encouraged just as corruption and corrupt politicians and leaders were created. This was a period of total disengagement from public interest and their aspirations. We were ruled by an extremely selfish and cruel dictator, who in reality destroyed everything good that we had and created everything that we didnt want. I know that one should move further from just the blame game, but by 9/11 Pakistan had gone too far to take an easy ride back or a U turn, her prime allies/sponsers however had taken an exit earlier from the policies Pakistan continued to enforce much later. The suggestion of punishing corrupt leader is good, guess who would be accusing Pakistan of being undemocratic and of heavy handedness towards political leaders. And where the money earned from corruption eventually ends up, thats no a secret either? But you are right that we need to change a lot to be treated as a dignified nation. We have the example of India in front of us. But we would rather not visit the USA than be treated like suspects. And Pakistanis must raise concern over such policies as above alongside making an effort to erradicate extremism from the community. A terrorists is the worst enemy of its own community. Pakistanis should also integrate more as well. Those minorities who are for reasons treated differently from others, do not strive to change their image and do not integrate and do not stress on their merits, at times meet unfortunate fates. European history is full of such events. Now when the West is more civilized and welcoming, Pakistanis must embrase it & prove themselves hardworking, useful and civilized, and it wont be wrong to say the generally we have all the three qualities. Stay safe and well.
