my enthralling epiphanies

sounds fancy, yes?

Music not to be missed

So while visiting my parents in South Florida I happen to know my dad really likes Bela Fleck. He is a banjo player that for awhile was in a band called "Bela Fleck and the Fleckstones".

So I noticed Bela Fleck, Edgar Meyer (incredible bass player) and Zakir Hussain (incredible tabla player) were playing in Miami.

Not knowing what to expect we walked in and heard beautiful music. Who would have thought such instruments worked SO well together! I downloaded the album just now but it does the live performance near no justice.

Here is a video I found of Bela and Edgar, incredible what they can do with these instruments.

Here is all three of them together although this is a rogue recording

Right to bear armsWhat is your dark side trying to tell you?

For me, the trick is to not listen to the instruments with preconceived ideas of what a banjo or double bass viol "should" sound like. Then these superb artists are free to give me the sounds they want and explore a much larger range of music and medleys (Bela seems to use the banjo almost like a classical guitar). Excellent!!

yeah that is one thing I really enjoy about it. They threw out their notions of a banjo just being bluegrass or something like that. I like that they all seem to love their instruments for what they are

"Veoh is no longer available in IRAN, ISLAMIC REPUBLIC OF. If you are not in IRAN, ISLAMIC REPUBLIC OF or think you have received this message in error, please go to veoh.com and report the issue."

God Damn you Donald trump !!

The banjo is a stringed instrument developed by enslaved Africans in the United States, adapted from several African instruments.!! that's the last thing i would have guessed that
Steve Martin can play!

His pink panther was O.K!

I gotta sleep or i will go brain dead  Bye

Watching Steve Martin do that makes his role in "The Jerk" even funnier now!

starree 21. October 2009, 23:50

Yeah I didn't know he could play the banjo either until my dad told me

I was thinking that about The Jerk too, that movie was awesome

"and...and...I don't need anything else! Except my teddy bear....but that's all!!" ROTFL

Sure he can keep a rhythm....

I didn't understand that scene as much until I got a bit older as my parents showed me that movie as a kid. I also liked Mr. Mom when he is at the deli ordering cheese "I just want cheese!!!" when she is offering him all the different types of cheeses
