Some people have urged me to write something about what I'm up to in here. So here we go...
After leaving Opera, I worked on some business ideas with some friends of mine. Particularly one was quite interesting, and I still believe we could take that forward, but it was kind of ahead of its time.
I spent a lot of time in the mountains, planning, finding out what I wanted to do. Figured I wanted to move away, go to the US or the UK. Ended up with getting offers from 3 UK companies, 1 Norwegian and 2 US companies in a couple of weeks. There was one particular company that I felt shared my vision as to how communities would evolve and that I felt I could feel particularly good about joining, so I went for it. Found a flat here in London with two days to do it in and moved over. Haven't regretted it for one day!
The most major difference from life back in Norway is that you're expected to prove yourself over here, while in Norway, you have the Jante law. I really never believed it was such an accurate description of working in Norway until I left the country. It's kind of scary, actually.
Attended the London BBC Innovation Labs last week, had a nice time and met quite a few interesting people. Also, we got commissioned to have a look at visual moderation, particularly for the CBBC.
