Walk On... or Rest Awhile

, , , , ,

Photobucket
Do you prefer to walk or run?
Would you take me a picture, just for fun?

When you walk, is it slow-
If you climb trees, do you climb high or low?

When you stop are you panting for breath?
Are you ready to sit, or the whole while sat?

Sometimes we must stay inside our homes,
or in hospital lay till days are new.

I await the 'new day' along with you...

I walk to have more time to see all the fun smile
Of course my dear, here's one up

I do stop often, when I walk yes
But I do not climb up trees because I afraid heights scared

When I stop walking, I only pant for excitement happy
And yet, I sit all too much awww

Anyhow, I try not to wait wait

I prefer to walk.... on this beautiful path smile

Fun poem, Jill up

Nice poem Jill! up

I used to like to walk but now I am beginning to run instead (after an increasingly fast little boy!) I like to walk fast with big long strides...but now I am learning to sometimes walk very very slowly (at the pace of a toddler who wants to stop and examine every leaf, tree and twig!) smile

He is teaching me to stop and take the time to appreciate all the little things we pass on our walks, and see these little simple things as he sees them as new, facinating and amazing!

I hear you in the running after him to keep up! and in needing to take time to slow down to appreciate observing him discover!

nice that you see what is happening instead of dismiss it. you are richer for it, Kirsty. enjoy!

thank you, Julie! I wish we could walk there together. however, if you were here I would take you to other places more beautiful than this place.

Great timing on this one Jill. I've had an injured ankle for since May. 7 months of rest hasn't helped a bit, so I decided today to walk in the woods hoping to add some strength to it. I didn't run, the terrain was so bumpy I walked very carefully.

studio41 Friday, January 13, 2012 8:07:33 AM

sorry to hear about your injury, Lois- May is a long time ago! what have you done to rehabilitate? I hope all will go well with you and that the ankle strengthens soon!

Julie, one day perhaps! that would be a nice visit!

Walking slow, out of breath, laying in the hospital -- the story of my life over the past few years. lol

yes, you must take care. do you find energy to walk now?

Sami, those are great!

studio41 Saturday, January 14, 2012 8:54:46 AM

I added a picture to this post- which do you prefer?

Tell me why...

Edward Piercyedwardpiercy Saturday, January 14, 2012 3:40:50 PM

I'm doing well since the valve job. Breathing much better when I walk, but the muscles of my legs are still real weak -- so I still have limitations. I started doing exercise to try to build them back up, leg squats.

I think I like the second photo as it is more purely horizontal. up

glad to hear, Ed. that must be "a breath of fresh air" how dare I pun about it, but couldn't help it! it must be great to feel that difference- am happy for you.

about the legs, any way to weight lift/resistance train on a very small level? that might build you up quicker? little sand bags while sitting- a suggestion.

Edward Piercyedwardpiercy Sunday, January 15, 2012 5:42:33 PM

A friend was telling me last night that she's been going to the gym. And one afternoon there was this trainer there who put a rope around this one woman and then had her get down on her hands and knees, and try to crawl forward as he pulled the rope to keep her back. Supposedly this was some sort of training method, but to me it sounded like something from a Fellini movie. p

Anyway, thanks for the suggestion. Maybe I could look it up on the internet and find some low-impact stuff.

I like the first one more up I'm usually "allergic" for tilted horizons but it works if tilted enough, and more often on vertical pictures. Moreover the composition on first picture is more interesting. Second photo also looks a little too gloomy for my taste.

And here's the promised walking picture smile

Pilates? core strengthening- however, getting onto the floor can be difficult at times.

it is a nice hike- not too long, not too short bigsmile I found a beautiful tree there in autumn:

there are many large rocks at one end of the trail, however not as large as the one pictured in your album: http://my.opera.com/shootell/albums/showpic.dml?album=5722372&picture=141164642

Gynggyng Wednesday, February 15, 2012 5:22:27 PM

I prefer walking, slow or fast doesn't matter... It clears my mind and cool me down...I have a small problem with my foot now so I can't walk as much as I want to and it annoys me, but it's getting better... When I walk I rarely stop for some resting, I prefer to walk without pause... Nice pictures by the way smile

studio41 Monday, February 20, 2012 8:43:20 AM

thank you, Gyng smile

Gynggyng Monday, February 20, 2012 7:48:31 PM

Thank you, I try, I don't even know how this happened, but it's better now, it doesn't hurt anymore bigsmile
