brew the tea, let it cool...pour o'er the cubes, give a sigh and smile ;)

Snow no more...

We await more snow.

How has it been in your neck of the woods?

No snow here. In fact we've had mostly sunny, 70F temps here for several days.

There might be about two inches from a few days ago. Very different from this time of year last year. I was miserable then.....4 ft of hard packed snow and a blizzard every weekend. Didn't go outside for 4 months last winter. I still find it hard to deal with the cold but it's better than last winter.

Just found a gym I'm going to join. It's all older people who use it. It's at an assisted living residence that has many apartments for older people. There are also many other apartments on the outer perimeters for people who don't need assistance, and also small homes on more acreage for older, more independent people. It's nice that the fitness center is open to all people in the surrounding communities as well as the residents.

I remember- it was very cold and snowy here, too. The guys (Joe and Joseph) thankfully earned a bunch of extra dough shoveling/snow blowing. And for us last year that was helpful.

I am so glad for the milder winter though I love the snow. Feel the cold and think "Arizona" - but, I'm a Midwesterner.

excellent news on the gym. I hope you love it. working out is good for just about everything. I just finished reading Michelle Aguilar's book: Becoming Fearless http://michelleaguilar.me/self_help.html she was the Biggest Loser winner one season. interesting and helpful book, I thought. she has some insightful tips about keeping your own vision alive and not letting the past define you...

I think I will. As soon as I walked into the lobby, I felt at ease. Then after seeing a few ladies in the 'heated to 88 degrees' pool, I almost wanted to get in right away. The heat will feel wonderful on these stiff and hurting joints.

Edward Piercyedwardpiercy Saturday, January 28, 2012 4:16:19 PM

We just got about 6 inches last week. It's mostly all gone now though. :*(

Nice photo. I think I'm going to check out that D40.

I hear ya! I have to ask, however, is it worse up here? was AZ any different?

thanks, Ed!

this is using not the kit lens, which is so-so, but a Tamron.

Much worse actually. The cold and dampness in Fargo does me in. Makes my joints hurt. It was very dry in AZ and hot or warm 9 months out of the year. There, I was up and out of the house 24/7/365. A big difference. Right now it is minus 2 here in Fargo. At least it isn't windy. When it is cold, I think of every excuse in the book to not go outside.

is this new, Pam? or did you ever have the aches in AZ? I ache so much here and assume it'd be much relieved in the dry south.

I hate the dreadful cold, too- warmer with scenic snow is nice sometimes smile

I haven't been over to her blog in a while, but last time I checked Pam now lives in North Dakota. p Not exactly balmy weather in Fargo. lol

Deb Plattdebplatt Tuesday, January 31, 2012 3:16:28 AM

Pam, the gym sounds like a great idea. up

Jill, we've just had a little bit of winter here. smile Here are a few shots where I dashed out and took some photos before all the snow and ice melted.

I realize, Ed bigsmile pondering how joints are different responders in various areas of the good old USA - just wonder/dream myself from time to time... then understand the heat in summer would make me pass out faint

Deb, the photos are gorgeous! the last one is magical.

those are some killer icicles in the 3rd photo! very pretty place.

Deb Plattdebplatt Tuesday, January 31, 2012 2:21:45 PM

Every once in a while in my knee or hip. I should go to get a cortisone injection when that stuff starts up, but I usually just say why bother.

I have the hip thing going, too... sometimes.

Deb Plattdebplatt Thursday, February 2, 2012 9:23:13 PM

I've been noticing hip twinges off and on while I'm walking this winter. I'm starting to wonder if sitting crossed-legged, Indian-style is maybe hard on the hips ... or at least hard if you're getting to be arthritic like me. confused

MiraMirabelaTM Friday, February 3, 2012 12:36:11 PM

Cute picture Jill heart We have a lot of snow..and it's still snowing happy

Naomi CultureSurfer Friday, February 3, 2012 1:29:48 PM

Love the pic of your daughter! We've had one decent snowfall all winter, pretty rare for St. Louis. As opposed to lots of snow last winter. I have to say I don't mind recent temps in the 60's. It's like Spring minus the beautiful trees and flowers. Great weather for walks. smile

Gynggyng Wednesday, February 15, 2012 5:32:16 PM

We have a lot of snow, somewhere 60 cm somewhere less, somewhere a lot more...I took some pictures today, a lot of snow bigsmile
