brew the tea, let it cool...pour o'er the cubes, give a sigh and smile ;)

Girl at the fountain... (-or- girl with a rosebud nose, I cannot decide)

There was a girl with a rosebud nose,
tucked beside a fountain,
I beckoned her to come and pose
and thought I heard her laughter!...

She ran to me, abandoned swing,
a growing like a weed, I think...
As soon arrived, we said, "Goodbye."
Don't tarry long or leave...

They'll be grown before you blink.

smile I like this term "rosebud nose" ... never heard this before, but it matches perfectly, nice shot, Jill up and the perfect words for it as well wink

Just lovely!! "They'll be grown before you blink" - so very true!

Loved everything about this post. Like thetomster, really enjoyed the reference to the "rosebud nose", but also the sense that things change so very quickly. Glad that you got a snapshot of this moment.

That is one true sentence, the one about the kids leaving before you know.

We just borrow them a few years, rosebuds or not.

Rosebud nose very good description. Poem goes well and it is true----my son is now 45 but should be 16!

My eighteen year old is just starting college. She tells me that as she walks about her college town, she feels very grown up. However when I went there for the college's "Parents weekend", and she was showing me about town, she said she suddenly felt less grown up walking by my side. I'm not sure if that's just the nature of things, or what.

glad you liked the "rosebud nose" I realized after I wrote it that it's actually a rosebud mouth people speak of... but her nosey was rosey so that's what came to me...

smile Pam... it was one of those, as most of these are- but it's fun, when they roll off the tongue...

I agree w/ what so many of you said, the kiddos grow way too fast... I was just one! what happened?! time is so bizarre. & I don't want to start crying... hold them while they are young.

if you haven't already, click on the photo for the large version...
