Something for Winter

, , , ...

Well, I have revisited collages. It's always fun to present things in new ways- or in old ways that worked! Here is a former post where I used the collage code. And, visit Sami's post for some great codes to try yourself! Which sort of presentation have you lent to something of late?

Since expono wasn't cooperating with me, I decided to upload a collage from Photobucket. Here are the slides from the previous show. Many manipulations made on my cell phone. Very fun.

I make this trek often. And have noticed banners here at this art center always. Snapped a pic and shopped it a bit... often, I find it necessary to do something with cell pics to make them palatable, but sometimes they seem interesting as is.

Don’tcha really love these things?
Creamy-soft smears defining speak,
Chalky colours, every kind of line
Intensity moves, ideas shine—
Straight and curved… pastels sublime… mmmm!
What a time!

Amazing lipstick, eye shadowed hues...
Up, then down, they take their cues…
Now put them in an artist’s hands
and watch them really start to dance!~

I may have just improved a photo, but the bucket (photobucket) is down right now and so I'll try posting via OPERA again in hopes they aren't gargantuan in size. Allan gave me a suggestion and I think the row windows picture is better now. Thank you, Allan.

Art-- if only to eat it?!

,

Many here on Opera are artists, and excellent ones at that. Whatever your medium or artform, I cannot imagine pouring myself into creating it, only to eat it... but then, again, I make a meal that is rather artisic and then moments later, it is devoured... and then, I am reminded of the birthday cake. Here is an example of edible art... Enjoy & meet: THE WATERMELON

It goes something like this... first you must find a mulberry tree...

, , , ...

First you must find a mulberry tree... then you wait till the ripening
of mulberries and men
for the gathering...
by the time you convince them, it's dark and the mosquitoes descend,
but they leave...

they come home saying, "we forgot tarps"

they leave again,
they come home again, "we couldn't whack the branches"

"why"

"we couldn't reach the branches"
"are there no branches near mulberry trees?"
"it was too dark, we could not see"...
"yes, you needed your walking sticks"
they gather their walking sticks

they leave,
they come home, looking swollen from so many bites (or too many mulberries)...

they want to run along to play before bed and
leaving their yield behind them:
one third of one third of one ice-cream bucketful...

"pardon, so few?"

you stand there, incredulous,
knowing you should be grateful.

you are, you say, "thank you"

they run off
you turn to find your new white towels on the floor by the door
formerly white rather, now flaunting a mulberryish appeal
you stand there, incredulous,
knowing you should be grateful.

you are, you say nothing...

you shake it off, realizing there are two ways to look at this
you choose the right way
convincing yourself it is right
and in the doing, remind your wee little brain that,
hey, this is just one more reason to let my kiddies be artists,
I won't fret the mess, I'll just lay down the white and mulberry towels
bring out the paint for my cute little dolls
and watch them create their own sort of cobbler...

you ooh and you ahh, because truly you can see it through their eyes
with delight and surprise! you realize, they are your art...
your awe, your mulberry tree, filled with berries, not quite ripe
and you are the sunshine for their ripening.

big boy has gone
big boy come home
long day the cobbler spent toiling, gathering, whacking, providing
then stands there a staring-- you think at the art-- "you bought white towels?"
you stand there incredulous,

grateful, you say something,

"could you go get me some more mulberries?...

please."
