Cherish the days,
Savor the nights,
Bask in the glow of the morning light.

light passes through
summer's opening rose
finds me singing a new song

Vast and open
makes me feel awake
even when squinting at the sun
or through the sun
and it feels good
in the wind
or soft, subtle rain
and more soft wind
no need to contemplate,
just feel the sweet
land we know-
no need for a house
big or little
on the prairie...
not for a visit- just roam
or, better, sit
the hum in summer
the heat has a sound?
the breeze in autumn
and the spring rain water's song
or winter's stillness, yes, it comes and is best
when all seems to lay dormant and brighter light, my rest,
Bright and Morning,
a still small voice comes
a voice of comfort that I know.
and once again I feel white as snow...

the sun had set, though time stood still…
the colours left an imprint. will.
scattered branches light the path
I must go home, it’s getting late
just hold my hand, the dark sets in
illumined path, a breach herein
my severed heart cries out for more
this wearying, tearing, wearing, sore.
the path is trod, my script’s been set
I linger longer softer yet-- to grasp
just one more lingering light, and breath—
just hold my hand here…
sun has set.

How can it be that I should boast?
How can it be that I could give hope?
A man that I am, a woman of dust?
Fallen, depraved, eyeing the world--
Looking ahead, hope in dreams to unfurl...
of a fool.
In panic I came,
A night long ago,
Having sung songs as a child, yet a foe?
Did I know?
The sweat from a little boy's brow or a girl's--
Baby blue eyes or a lovely gold curl...
Did I know what I did? Did I know what I said?...
Lay it down, now confess...
A soul to be fed,
Word spoke new life,
Breath on the dead...
Regenerated degenerate nation...
Then how can it be that I could give love?
A man that I am, a woman of hope?
Fallen, redeemed, eyeing the world--
A look turning back, an action, a word?
Hope-filled fill others
Call not "Raca" my brother
Having been empty, speak words, not condemn.
For Way, Truth, Life has paid
Soul is redeemed, damage undone...
our flesh to be done.
Now man that is ash, and woman of dust,
Undo me lest I come undone
and fall back to live, live like I was--
As I have so recently done.
Battle cry, "Won!"
the One... Belong to the One.

Light in the morning,
whether brilliant or small,
Will beckon the chosen
to rebirth with the dawn.
If raindrops, reflecting,
don’t trouble your head,
If snowflakes’ many facets,
mirroring diamondlike cause…
Rise you out of slumber
Awaken hope, then,
To arise while it’s day…Night comes, quickly—
so work, my friend.
"We must work the works of Him who sent Me as long as it is day; night is coming when no one can work. (John 9:4)
God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. (Psalm 46:1)

Beyond Summer Beach
Why rest I here?
Sky still and cold, and grey city smokes;
Mirror of my eyes, a story foretold--
Count I the colours, two, three and four,
Alas, there are many--
Artiste’s palette comprise more.
And so, me, my words aren’t few…
Then, stirring His palette, in right of the sky,
Overcast stirs more colour, no soul o’erwhelmed,
Light coming out where her body laid down,
On graveyard sun rising, bones waiting, soul--

LINKS to a favourite devotional:
Allan asked in the comments below for the lyrics to be posted. I'll upload the file. This song came from lyrics first, which typically doesn't happen for me. I usually start with a melody and put words to it. This was out of a daily devotional (compilation of Scripture) that I love! I'll post a couple of links for you here. I'd been in the habit of printing them off and chose to use several verses from one of the days. I was prompted to post it as August 31 as I was reading Daily Light. I thought there was an entry from spring, specifically March, including the "Return unto Me" passage, but, perhaps I was remembering notations from another song. I did find scribblings on a printout of August 31, here is the link:
Here is my specific text/lyric interposed with the Word:
