Study abroad Learn French Fast - Ways To Speed Up Your Learning

, , ,

Anyone want to learn to speak French fast shouldn't be concerned that they may not be an ideal candidate. In reality anyone, regardless of age or aptitude can lean a new language. The key skills are to be consistent in your lessons and staying focused on the goal.

Indeed, apart from your bread and butter skills, like reading, writing, comprehension, grammar understanding and pronunciation, you need to get your attitude to learn a new language right.

Think back to when you learned your native language. You probably don't even remember the beginning but it took you around a year to three years before you started speaking properly. and since that time you have been learning about your native tongue all the time simply by listening to other people or getting formal education.

The point being that you shouldn't get frustrated if you can't speak French well after 3 months or still struggle with elementary grammar after 6 months. It will take time to sink in, but it will sink in. We are programmed to let it sink in provided we give it the time and stay focused. Now, with this said, here are a few resources that can help you learn French fast.

So the first destination to learn French fast is the internet. Learning with audio-visual material is the best way in my opinion. So look to video websites like youtube for French speaking videos, music videos, interviews and whatever you can think up. Also, try reading French websites. If you use a computer everyday, set your homepage to a popular French language site. When it starts up read whatever takes your fancy. Also think about joining a French language forum. The topic of the forum could be learning French or anything that really interests you.

There are many online courses and podcasts that can teach you the basics of the language and grammar. You can even have personal tuition with a native French speaking teacher via a voip phone service like skype which is free to use.

Watching French TV via satellite or DVD's is another way to learn to speak French fast. With DVD's you can mix and match the subtitles and audio to suit whatever skill you want to practice. For instance, English audio/French subtitles will help your reading, vocabulary and grammar. Swap this round and you can practice your comprehension and pronunciation. Have French audio/French subtitles and you can do even more.

Watching a movie is an easy way to get regular French practice in and is relatively painless too. If you are enjoying the movie, the learning will be going on in the background. Think of it like a squash game if you like. While you are smashing that little ball round the court you are reducing stress and getting exercise in the process without having to focus on it.

Music can also be very useful teaching aid. Be selective with the kind of music you listen to. Go for clearly worded songs and steer clear of songs that use slang as this will just confuse you. If you listen to songs in the background, you will be surprised how words just sink into your head. For example you may listen to a song a few times and suddenly it will dawn on you that you actually understand what is being said.

These tips can help you learn the French language or any language for that matter. The key with learning a new language is consistency and staying focused.
