Drama Life Lesson: Love

Another Hana Yori Dango quote about love. The sitation isn't really important in this example, but its a conversation between Soujiro and Yuki about Doumyouji and Makino's antics. Soujiro (pictured right) is quite wise in his words, at least when talking about love.
Soujiro: koi wa rikutsu janai kara.
Yuki: e?
Soujiro horetahareta ha rifujin no koto darake da yo. tada dareka wo suki ni naru dake demo, kizutsuitari, kizutsukeraretari... honki de hito wo ai suru to ha sa, kitto inochigake janai to dekinai koto nan da yo.
Soujiro: Because love is not logical.
Yuki: Huh?
Soujiro: Falling in love is nothing but irrational things. Just by liking someone you'll hurt them, you'll get hurt... Really loving someone is something you can't do without staking your life on it.
My translation method is quite literal, I try to stay as close to the original Japanese as possible. Because of this it may sound a little strange. I could change the wording to make it more English, but it just feels wrong.
理屈 rikutsu - reason, logic
惚れた腫れた horetahareta - falling in love
傷つく kizutsuku - hurt someone
命懸け inochigake - risking one's life
