StumbleUpon for Opera, Safari and Chrome

Stumbleupon.com tools

I apologize for the lack of any releases from our team. I can inform you that I've tried to get development of the main widget started again, but failed miserably. To make up for this I started a side project known as StumbleUpon.com tools. These are tools that attempt to reduce third party sign-in interfaces and use the StumbleUpon.com website more effectively in your browser.

Bookmarklets

Bookmarklets that speed up your use of the StumbleUpon website in any browser. Click the Install bookmarklets button to install.

Opera setups

A menu and a toolbar that speed up your use of the StumbleUpon website in the Opera web browser. Click the Install setups button, tick the Menu check box and click Download setup.

CSS fix for Opera 10

If you're using Opera 10, the StumbleUpon Web Toolbar frame might not display correctly. You can set the height manually by installing this user stylesheet:

About

These tools will be developed mainly by the My Opera StumbleUpon team and new tools for Opera will be released in the future.

Promote

Please help promote the StumbleUpon.com Tools by adding a button to your blog posts. Copy the following code and paste it in your blog post:

<a style="text-decoration: none; float: right;" title="StumbleUpon for Opera, Safari and Chrome" href="http://my.opera.com/suopera/blog/stumbleupon-com-tools"><div style="background: transparent url(http://files.myopera.com/drlaunch/themes/suopera/button.png); color: white; width: 250px; height: 100px;"><div style="padding-left: 24px;"><h4 style="padding-top:24px; font-size: 16px;">StumbleUpon.com Tools</h4><p style="padding-top:14px; font-size: 13px;">for <em>your</em> web browser</p></div></div></a>

You can find buttons and banners of more sizes here.

We would also like a thumbs up on StumbleUpon very much. If you're a new StumbleUpon user, this is a great site to give your first thumbs up!

I made some updates to the post. I think it looks better now.

The download page for the setups was deleted from the server. It's up again now.

Um... there are only three buttons in the Opera setup, right? This is a huge waste of vertical space, why not inlcude those buttons in the address bar or the tab bar?

And why does "Tools" button have only "Sign-in..." option and nothing else? It seems a bit pointless to me.

Knut Remi "DrLaunch" Løvlidrlaunch Friday, March 27, 2009 8:17:11 PM

Because it's version 0.1. The plan is to provide a toolbar and menu with a interface similar to the official toolbar in the end.

The tools menu is simply a placeholder until I add more items.

I'm going to add more bookmarklets and toolbar items next week.

Install the bookmarklets if you'd like to place the buttons anywhere without using an extra toolbar.

I apologize, I may have been overly critical. I want to support this project as much as I can smile

Unfortunately, the rating buttons don't seem to work -- clicking them does nothing. (No output in the error console, either)

The support forums are now open. Access them from StumbleUpon --> Tools --> Help.

Hi

Is this possible... a Thumbs-up toolbar button (with the blue SU thumb icon ;]) which when activated will, in the background, log-in and favourite the current page in focus. whistle

Thanks

Edit: OK, I've managed to get a SU thumb button on my toolbar so now... does anyone know the script that will allow me to submit the current page to SU as a favourite... I've tried this command and parameter... but it don't work

Go to page, "http://www.stumbleupon.com/submit?url=+document.URL+%27&title=%27+document.title.replace(/%20/g,%27+');"

I've no training in programming at all so any help really appreciated!

I don't know JavaScript my self, either. But even so, I've written the entire Opera toolbar alone. If you need to rate the page, just use the "Rate it" link to enable the StumbleUpon web toolbar for the page.

The script fragment you posted will only submit the page. The rate it link will submit and enable the web toolbar. A instant thumbs up button lies beyond my knowledge though.

Thanks drlaunch, I'll give the RateIt button a try. If I find a way (or someone) to come up with an instant I Like It button I'll post here.

edit: combined the command from RateIt! with my ThumbUp button so happy days, very close to what I'm looking, thanks drlaunch up
