StumbleUpon.com Tools
for your web browser
Welcome to the official website of My Opera StumbleUpon Team!
StumbleUpon is a growing social network and some users have asked for the development of an official tool for stumbling websites without using any third-party server
A widget, planned to be released as a official StumbleUpon add-on for Opera has been under development for a while. Sadly, development has come to a halt, and all attempts at getting development started again have failed.
But to make up for this, key members of the team started a side project known as the StumbleUpon.com Tools. These are unofficial tools for various browsers like Opera, Chrome and Safari. Click the button on the right to install them.
For feedback, problems and questions, you are welcome to try our Technical Support. If you'd like to join development, please create an account and contribute in the forums.

We also had trouble with that guy in our forums when they still were open.

Close. I started looking for a StumbleUpon toolbar for Opera. Didn't find one. I found a "menu" that someone had made that replicated a few features, but the main problem with it was that it didn't actually stumble! Sure, it stumbled other users' profiles, but that's not what people use SU for.
So I decided to make Opera Stumbler. Took about a day to get the site up and another day to get the menu finished.
I got kicked off the forums because of exactly what you're doing now. Saying I stole this, that it's copyright infringment, etc. You all couldn't figure out how I knew how to replicate the SU features, even after I told you it was as simple as using an HTTPD sniffer and analyzing the header requests. I even posted my notes that I made for all of the functions on there!
Like I said before, it took about a day to do it. The hardest part was making the menu for Opera because I'd never made a menu before.
Opera Stumbler's now available in 4 languages, has close to 6k unique users, and serves over 15k stumbles a day.
Best of luck to you.

c'mon.. How hard can it be? Higherlogic knocked up something in a day or two and yet an official release has been nearly a year.
come on... some updates would be really useful.
RakelArkade # 8. July 2008, 13:16
Do you alredy have anything? why not?
9.5 is released. This was promissed to be at the same time.
I'm using that guy's addon right now, and it works; but I want it without the middleman.
CrossKel # 19. July 2008, 20:25
The only reason I use Firefox is for StumbleUpon. Otherwise, I push it aside and use Opera. HigherLogic has his own (operastumbler) but I'd rather have something official.
Is there any info at all about this? Or has it become a dead project?

We have a working prototype on a server. We just need a developer to clean it up and release it.
WinWhistler # 30. October 2008, 08:05
Your lack of updates on the project and the fact that you didn't even mention any delays at all is horrible.
I, for one, would love a StumbleUpon toolbar and I applaud the fact that you accepted the project, but the fact that you haven't even shown a screenshot of a working toolbar is... It's bad.
Someone managed to put up a toolbar in a couple of days, what reason could you possibly have to have us wait for well over a year without so much as a beta test?

Let me try again since apparently that's all you got.
I would like to have a StumbleUpon toolbar that's native to Opera and allows me to login to my StumbleUpon account and have my personal preferences as opposed to a generic toolbar that stumbles a random set of sites and e-mails them to me if I like them.

Thanks.

Forget apologizing, the project team looks unconcerned about the Opera fans from its attitude

How is the development going? Is this project even alive?
If you can't revive the project, why not just release the unfinished project and let the community do th rest?
I guess it would only be a couple of days....
drlaunch # 23. February 2009, 18:37
Seeing that the project development has come to a complete halt, and seemingly no development will be done by the team members within the foreseeable future, making it a community developed project might be more beneficial after all.
The project itself was supposed to be community maintained from the start but due to abuse of the forums and suspicion in the project management, the project became maintained by the current team only.
I really wish I could make the project actively developed again, but I can't get access to the project files.
Hades32 # 24. February 2009, 20:25
May I ask WHO has the project files?

StumbleUpon.com Tools
for your web browser
We've released some tools as a side project. More tools will be added later.
jaqdas # 25. March 2009, 18:30
Sorry to say but this seems to be a dead-link
I really would like to have the tool and see what we can do on it.
Thanks,
Jq
