Mac, iMac G3
Finally got my replacement from UPS, thank god they didn't smash this one. It's running tip top! Better than the first one, and they even threw in a ram upgrade to 512MB. How great these guys are. They must have quite the handful of these iMacs. The UPS Claims people still haven't come to pick up the broken iMac which makes me wonder if a monkey is running things over at the UP of S. Pics later on.

Mac, OS persecution, Mac vs PC, PC
Why do people hate mac? Why do people hate PC? You know, PC doesn't only run just windows, it runs over 100 different Linux distributions also. And, PC CAN RUN MAC! Mac can run PC too, so why do people think "mac sucks" and "windows sucks?" I personally think "the people that say that suck." Honestly, I believe that the people who think the operating system sucks, frankly have never even spent 30 minutes using it. Mac has it's advantages. The most powerful pc is a mac. What I mean is, the most powerful computer that runs windows, is indeed, a mac. So why think mac sucks if that is true? So what if you have neon lights on your case, it's going to be under the desk where you cant see it anyway. if you're going to mod, mod your monitor. something that you'll be looking at, not something that will be tucked away under the desk in your den. Even games can be played on the mac now, Macs run Intel processors and can have windows installed natively. All versions of Mac OS X leopard are 129 dollars, compared to vista's "ultimate" version which all it is is a 400 dollar expense of "ultimate bloat-ware." Mac and PC both have their advantages. Mac and PC both have their downsides too. So why persecute which one is better? There clearly is no better. One will always do one small thing better than the other.

Mac, Apple, mac mini
YES! YOU GOT IT!! I just bought good ol' buddies skunkie and polyvector's mac mini that they developed the all lovable windows app, rocketdock with. I have found a new love in computers. this thing is beyond sexy, I'm telling ya. the only problem is, is the cd drive is dead, but who cares, i don't even use cd's and if i really need one, i'll just get a firewire one, or replace the cd drive. This is so awesome. Did I mention the price?! 235 dollars! Just for being so awesome to me and being such awesome friends, i threw in a 5 dollar tip just for the hell of it. It's shipping tomorrow, which makes me incredibly excited. They were nice enough to take really high quality pics, which i will be displaying later in higher format than usual on my opera so you can see all the detail. The reason i'm displaying later is because my opera is being gay (for once) and not letting me upload any photos.

Apple, G3 Slot loading, PAV board, iMac
Ok, this is old news to me and I've finally got it all sorted out. You see, one of the problems with the iMac G3 Slot loading kind is the PAV board (power analog video board) is a daughter card on the logic board. The purpose of the PAV board is to put power and display to the CRT screen. The problem with it is, it dies in a few G3 imacs...Well, maybe more than just a few. What is displayed on my iMac's screen is normal, then for a few seconds it will turn a little yellow, and flicker from normal to a dim yellow shade. I guess I am the lucky one because most people with this problem get NO SCREEN at all. When this happens, you can plug in a external display and still be fine, but your screen inside the iMac just dies. What I have resolved with the helpful friendly people at Midwest Tech Recyclers on eBay is I am going to take out my upgrades (I bought some ram and put it in to have it at 512MB) Just send back the unit (cause they let me keep the keyboard, mouse, and power) and when they get it, they are sending me a new one. Sure I'll lose my stuff on the hard drive but who cares, it's all backed up on the external anyway. I just really have to make sure I get the memory out and the original ram (320 MB) Back in. I really do not recommend 320 MB of ram for Tiger on a iMac G3. What the problem is, is that it will eat it all soon, even if you are just listening to iTunes, running Mail, and using Safari/Firefox. Chances are you will have 4MB of ram free! With 512 MB of ram, you'll at least get a couple hundred MB free of ram. Apple says that 512 MB is the maximum ram for this iMac, but you can really fit up to 1GB of ram if I read correctly on
http://www.macspeedzone.com/html/hubs/specs/imac/feb-01.shtmlIt's the DV G3 400 in indigo and ruby, which is the one I have. I'm shipping my iMac back tomorrow and when they receive it, they will ship a new one. Awesome!!

battery, laptop
OK. All I have to say is, Das scheiße ist legendär. Das ist zehr gut. I can't beleive how long the life is. My old battery, the LI-Ion was dying, so I got a new one. Running iTunes, Pidgin, Thunderbird, and firefox, also with the screen brightness all the way down, the battery lasts over FIVE HOURS!!!!!!! I bought the battery from my usual source (if any of you don't know, that is ebay) and it was about 50 dollars. What a great deal. It also came with HILARIOUS engrish instructions. They are too funny to type but involved some words i have never even heard of. Get this. "Do not decompose, repair or Juggle the battery, it would burn, and The alkalescent liquor will cause Fire or hurt to human, Even Death" I laughed so hard that I could not breathe! who just juggles batteries?!?! Honest??! LMAO

OS X, Computers, iMac G3
Well, I bought some ram (256 MB module) from ebay about 2 days ago and it ALREADY came! Wow! That was possibly the fastest shipping thing on ebay I have purchased. It works really good too. No longer 80% of my ram is taken, mostly 30% now:D. The G3 processor still throws a fit sometimes when I have lots of stuff i'm doing at the same time though. Dashboard is still a little bit laggy probably because of the G3 400 though but the genie effect when minimizing no longer lags which kicks ass. here is my new screen!

Some first screens of my new imac. How Awesome! This first one is a earlier one

And this second one is my current one. The adium scribble over the chat bubble disappears when Adium is running and when you get a message, it draws a little ! sign inside of the bubble. How neat.

The dock items are in order from left to right: Finder, Thunderbird, Firefox, Adium, iTunes, System Preferences, and Trash. The menubar items are Display, and Ram and CPU (iStat menus.) Additional shots will be added to the album.
