Super Lego Man!

Hey guys. As you have heard, I recently bought a G4 mac mini from friends skunkie and polyvector. how awesome they are to have charged such a wonderful price for a great machine. I bought it used from them for $235.00. Being generous, since the two are so awesome and totally deserve it, I even tipped them 5 bucks making the total $240.00. The reason I got it for the low price is because the cd drive does not work anymore. That's ok becasuse I don't even really use cd's or dvd's because of the external (got it when i moved to my girlfriend's house.) It even has bluetooth and airport which are VERY useful for internet and offloading pictures from my cell phone. Oh the wonderful things you can get with money. I currently have the mac mini hooked up to the tv along with our wii, and my modded playstation. The slim ps2 would not fit in our entertainment center along with the charge station (for wii) and my ipod which sits next to the mini. The reason I have it hooked up to the tv is because I had to leave my 15" flat panel back home but I am looking forward to having my parents mail it to the girlfriend's house. Ok, this is old news to me and I've finally got it all sorted out. You see, one of the problems with the iMac G3 Slot loading kind is the PAV board (power analog video board) is a daughter card on the logic board. The purpose of the PAV board is to put power and display to the CRT screen. The problem with it is, it dies in a few G3 imacs...Well, maybe more than just a few. What is displayed on my iMac's screen is normal, then for a few seconds it will turn a little yellow, and flicker from normal to a dim yellow shade. I guess I am the lucky one because most people with this problem get NO SCREEN at all. When this happens, you can plug in a external display and still be fine, but your screen inside the iMac just dies. What I have resolved with the helpful friendly people at Midwest Tech Recyclers on eBay is I am going to take out my upgrades (I bought some ram and put it in to have it at 512MB) Just send back the unit (cause they let me keep the keyboard, mouse, and power) and when they get it, they are sending me a new one. Sure I'll lose my stuff on the hard drive but who cares, it's all backed up on the external anyway. I just really have to make sure I get the memory out and the original ram (320 MB) Back in. I really do not recommend 320 MB of ram for Tiger on a iMac G3. What the problem is, is that it will eat it all soon, even if you are just listening to iTunes, running Mail, and using Safari/Firefox. Chances are you will have 4MB of ram free! With 512 MB of ram, you'll at least get a couple hundred MB free of ram. Apple says that 512 MB is the maximum ram for this iMac, but you can really fit up to 1GB of ram if I read correctly on http://www.macspeedzone.com/html/hubs/specs/imac/feb-01.shtml
It's the DV G3 400 in indigo and ruby, which is the one I have. I'm shipping my iMac back tomorrow and when they receive it, they will ship a new one. Awesome!!
