Words...

are but chains in my flight of fire...

Be.

,

In the measure of a day,
the dire cries of an hour
fade in the next,
always remaining a part
of the next day’s planned survival.

Or life comes in fortuities
--unexpected, ecstatic—
and drags another day
on in its blood and need…
The cries continue.

Life,
in a hundred hungry faces--
black against the ivory skies,
is raw:
Raw in its failure to comprehend

the laws, faiths, philosophies,
justice and its blinded eyes.
These faces merely live and cry
out of stupid simple senses.
But us, we understand more, live less.

And life in war is raw--
fought
for each bread,
for each breath.
White flags are not edible.

In the candlelight a lifted hand
casts a shadow in the wall
--flickering, firm yet—
larger than our hands,
larger than us.

This is our God-- this hand
that craves on, and is
the darkest silhouette
in a world of feeble lights.
Don’t love. Simply be.

dynamite. that's 'sixties' slang for superb. the immediate and the remote; that which is hard makes life interesting. but that which is sublime makes it meaningful.

i am saving this one young lady. and you just moved up the ladder to heaven.

Oh it was inspired by a news i read the other day. Price of rice is really getting high in here. Too high to eat actually (and it's our staple food). And in context of the recent cyclone Sidr, we got a few tons of rice as relief from Pakistan. However, most of the rice was detected to be "inedible" and thrown into a swamp. Poor people from the neighboring villages ran to the place and picked up the rice from that swamp in whatever they had and ... it wasnt a good sight when i saw it in the paper.

Ironically, the rice was found out later to be quite alright. The detectors were wrong.

I agree with the sentiments expressed by my adoptive american bro' Scott (hi bro'!)

An excellent poem! It's not easy to pick out a 'best verse" but the following one is both profound and touches the 'gown of stark truth':

the laws, faiths, philosophies,
justice and its blinded eyes.
These faces merely live and cry
out of stupid simple senses.
But us, we understand more, live

Continue to express what you feel and to let us share such things.
Despite what our politicians do and say, we are all One Planet, One People,
diverse, yet from the same beginning.

Scott knows what I mean.

Best wishes.
