Duck Eggs

Let me introduce you to my duck egg. The white one is duck's, the brown one is hen's L size egg. The duck eggs were larger than hen eggs. The colour of the shell is not as white as the hen's white eggs, but a bit blue-greyish. They don't look very attractive, as not being uniform both in colour and in shape.
I poached the eggs with rice and ate it with Greek butter beans called "gigantes" (meaning giants). They had denser flavour than hen eggs and tasted very nice.
I will try to eat them in other ways in future.

I have tried Vietnamese food at Vietnamese restaurants in Tokyo, and I liked the food. I don't know if I like it if I eat it in Viet Nam.
Hi Zariski,
So you imagine. But actually they taste somehow different. According to what I read on internet, duck egg yolk is richer in fat, and egg white in richer in protain than hen egg. Do try, if you have chance, and tell me what you think.

Thank you for the invitation!
I remembered that the Vietnameses eat the chicks still inside the egg shell! Will it be a part of the dinner you offer to me?

And with more special dish...Are U trying to enjoy "fried crab roll", "water morning-glory soup", "Mullet fish cook with brine"...? Are U Japanese ?

Yea, I am Japanese living in UK.
I have never tried any of the dishes you mentioned. What I have eaten and I can remember are: raw spring rolls (very popular in Japan and you can even find in supermarkets), e2l cooked with green bean flour vermicelli and egg, and pho noodles (also very famous). All lovely.
Unfortunately there is no Vietnamese restaurant in Birmingham, but I guess there are in London.
Anyway, I am really curious how the chicks in the shell taste like....

Yes, the duck eggs are yummy. I bought some again.
Hi Ngsinh,
Chicks can be yummy, but they are so small that it might be fussy to eat.
Now I am going to your blog to collect the gift!

I am old; i have lived almost half of my expected lenghth of life. I am afraid I don't have any portrait photo, as I don't like to be photographed. I might post one, when I snatch some from my husband.
I thought that you need to cook the chicks to eat it. So you people eat them raw? Chick sashimi?
