EEman is based on loving hazrat muhammad sa more than ur own life more than ur children ur parents or anything else in the world.
Hadith #3
Narated By 'Abdullah bin Hisham : We were with the Prophet and he was holding the hand of 'Umar bin Al-Khattab. 'Umar said to Him, "O Allah's Apostle! You are dearer to me than everything except my own self." The Prophet said, "No, by Him in Whose Hand my soul is, (you will not have complete faith) till I am dearer to you than your own self." Then 'Umar said to him, "However, now, by Allah, you are dearer to me than my own self." The Prophet said, "Now, O 'Umar, (now you are a believer)."

This is an Explicit "Nass (definite proof)" in Quran that Allah and his Prophet (Peace be upon him) should be dearer to us than everything in the world i.e. our wealth, children, parents etc... Some people use this verse in regards to Jihad only but they forget that loving Prophet (Peace be upon him) is mentioned before that, hence even Jihad without the love of Allah and his Prophet (Peace be upon him) would "not be" Jihad in cause of Allah, rather it could lead one to hell fire instead.
وَمَن يُطِعِ اللّهَ وَالرَّسُولَ فَأُوْلَـئِكَ مَعَ الَّذِينَ أَنْعَمَ اللّهُ عَلَيْهِم مِّنَ النَّبِيِّينَ وَالصِّدِّيقِينَ وَالشُّهَدَاءِ وَالصَّالِحِينَ وَحَسُنَ أُولَـئِكَ رَفِيقًا
Allah says: "All who obey Allah and the apostle are in the company of those on whom is the Grace of Allah,- of the prophets (who teach), the sincere (lovers of Truth), the witnesses (who testify), and the Righteous (who do good): Ah! what a beautiful fellowship"(4:69)
The Reason Behind Revealing this Honorable Ayah
Hafiz Ibn Kathir: Ibn Jarir recorded that Sa`id bin Jubayr said, "An Ansari man came to the Messenger of Allah while feeling sad. The Prophet said to him, `Why do I see you sad' He said, `O Allah's Prophet! I was contemplating about something.' The Prophet said, `What is it' The Ansari said, `We come to you day and night, looking at your face and sitting by you. Tomorrow, you will be raised with the Prophets, and we will not be able to see you.' The Prophet did not say anything, but later Jibril came down to him with this Ayah,
وَمَن يُطِعِ اللَّهَ وَالرَّسُولَ فَأُوْلَـئِكَ مَعَ الَّذِينَ أَنْعَمَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِم مِّنَ النَّبِيِّينَ
Our prophet has taught us about eeman and islam in this Hadith:
One day hazrat Gibreil (a) visited hazrat Muhammad (sa) to teach the sahabas lesson.
Everybody saw it.The hadith is
“Also on the authority of Omar, who said : One day while we were sitting with the messenger of Allah there appeared before us a man whose clothes were exceedingly white and whose hair was exceedingly black; no signs of journeying were to be seen on him and none of us knew him. He walked up and sat down by the prophet. Resting his knees against his and placing the palms of his hands on his thighs, he said:”O Muhammed, tell me about Islam”. The messenger of Allah said: “Islam is to testify that there is no god but Allah and Muhammed is the messenger of Allah, to perform the prayers, to pay the zakat, to fast in Ramadhan, and to make the pilgrimage to the House if you are able to do so.” He said:”You have spoken rightly”, and we were amazed at him asking him and saying that he had spoken rightly. He said: “Then tell me about eman .”He said:”It is to believe in Allah, His angels, His books, His messengers, and the Last Day, and to believe in divine destiny, both the good and the evil thereof.” He said:”You have spoken rightly”. He said: ” Then tell me about ehsan .” He said: “It is to worship Allah as though you are seeing Him, and while you see Him not yet truly He sees you”. He said: “Then tell me about the Hour”. He said: “The one questioned about it knows no better than the questioner.” He said: “Then tell me about its signs.” He said: “That the slave-girl will give birth to her mistress and that you will see the barefooted, naked, destitute herdsman competing in constructing lofty buildings.” Then he took himself off and I stayed for a time. Then he said: “O Omar, do you know who the questioner was?” I said: “Allah and His messenger know best”. He said: “He was Jebreel (Gabriel), who came to you to teach you your religion.”
Narrated by muslim
eman .”He said:”It is to believe in Allah, His angels, His books, His messengers, and the Last Day, and to believe in divine destiny, both the good and the evil thereof.”
Eeman is based on loving and following Hazrat Muhammad(sa) not on obtaining knowledge.After bringing the eeman the knowledge comes next.If your eeman is only based on knowledge then your eeman is ruined because your head is always busy in thoughts.
The kafirs knew that hazrat Muhammad(sa) was a prophet but they did not bring eeman.They used to say “we know that he is the prophet.”the jews recognized hazrat Muhammad(sa) like their children because he was described in tawrat.But they did not bring eeman.So only knowing and recognizing is not the basic of eeman.Eman is related with the heart.Heart loving the prophet(sa) and obeying his commands without any hesitation that he is the final prophet.
Hazrat Ibrahim (a) asked Allah to show how Allah brings life after death.Ibrahim(a) asked that after bringing his eeman to Allah not before bringing the emman.Allah asked Ibrahim(A) “don’t you have any faith? “ and he replied that he does but he just wanted to see.The knowledge came after bringing the eeman not before.
In the quran al baqarah 2:260
When Abraham said: "Show me, Lord, how You will raise the dead, " He replied: "Have you no faith?" He said "Yes, but just to reassure my heart." Allah said, "Take four birds, draw them to you, and cut their bodies to pieces. Scatter them over the mountain-tops, then call them back. They will come swiftly to you. Know that Allah is Mighty, Wise."
Eman is to belive in Allah, His angels, His books, His messengers, and the Last Day, and to believe in divine destiny, both the good and the evil thereof.”
Shejdah is only for Allah and love is for prophet Muhammad sa and Allah
