The Inependence Day of Georgia
Sunday, 25. May 2008, 22:21:24
Unfortunately, after 3 years of having become independent, the Soviet army occupied the territory of Georgia alleging that the Georgian state was intimidating Georgian working class and the Soviet army wanted to protect them. Though, Soviet Russia was trying to justify its brutal act of infringement the independence of Georgia by calling on some social ideals and principles, it was obvious that new forces in Russia were trying to concur Georgia for the SECOND time. On the 25th of February, 1921 so called Red Army concured Georgia and declared it a soviet country. The vulnerable Republic of Georgia and its government was unable to protect its rights.Though, there were some battles but they were useless as the Soviet army was much stronger than new born national army of Georgia. There was no help from the international community as well which was preocuppied by the WW1.
After "reddening" Georgia, the Soviet Russia started persecuting people who fought against them. The majority of Georgian aristocrats was either eliminated or sent into an exile. Some saved their lives by fleaing from Georgia. 99 % of them did not see their motherland in their lives and died in Emigration. The people who stayed in Georgia started preparing the uprising which took place in 1924. The uprising was suppressed. This caused another wave of persecutions.
Noe Ramishvili, the first leader of the Democratic Republic of Georgia was assassinated by a Bolshevik spy in Paris in 1930. The head of the government of independent Georgia was Noe Zhordania. He escaped from the country with the government in 1921 when the Soviet army started to take up the control over the whole country. He is buried in France. The government of the Democratic Republic of Georgia which was elected by the Georgian people through direct and equal elections did not recognition the soviet government and refused to transmit its rights and obligations to the Communists, but some historians think that their flea from the country has no justification.
Georgia was a part of the USSR for 70 years until it decided to leave Union and proclame independence. Georgia officially declared independence on the 9th of April,1991 after the collapse of the Soviet Union.

You are a wonderful spokeswoman and representative of this cause, especially to those of us who are uninformed, or misinformed.
Happy Independence EVERY Day!

Don't tell me you are poor.
...because we are supposed to live in
let's say 'developped countries'.
I understand you...as i had, from time to time,
pretty empty pockets.
But: you are lucky cause oil is cheap in your country.
You will, probably, see your country reunified but...
it is a long way to acceptable wealth for most of you.
Then, you will, probably, find out you lived better
in the old USSR.
God works in miterious ways.

but, it is some truth about the advantages of communism, etc.
As we were the first country to recognize the independence of Georgia
(after 1990), before USA, (where was usa at that time ?),
we can afford teasing the Georgians.
keep nationalism less obvious, you will have better success.

Look, Cush, I appreciate the fact that you might feel bad about the demise of communism and that, in some (few) ways some people were better off. I'm a bit of a socialist myself, but what the USSR had was not socialism, nor was is a dictatorship of the proletariat; it was a dictatorship. It was a dictatorship of the party elite, who seem to have lived pretty large at the expense of everybody else. Of course, you now have capitalists doing the same thing. That idea is not anything you folks invented. Look at the U.S. We have people making tens or even hundreds of millions of dollars a year while people are suffering because they can't afford health care. We have children we don't get a proper education because they live in monetarily poor school districts. We probably have a higher per capita prison population than anyone else in the world. The U.S. is wealthy almost beyond measure, but we squander our resources and people. We (and you and many other nation states) take the best of our young men and use them as cannon fodder in wars that have nothing to do with us. We're guilty of bullying, our Spanish speaking neighbors and exploiting them economically. The faults and mistakes of the United States are numerous and will continue to be numerous. So why do I criticize my own country like this?
Because I can.
You are now able to do the same thing. You can criticize your government if you want. You can criticize our government if you want. The point is that you can do this and not have to be afraid of the FSB (that probably isn't the right acronym) paying you a visit.
I would like to see our countries grow closer, but it seems that we aren't. It's too bad, and don't put all the blame on Russia for that. The U.S. seems to be so preoccupied with ensuring our oil supply that we have come to ignore almost everything else, including Russia.
Best regards,
PC
