widget, Opera
Opera widgets have really been very helpful. These are desktop-based mini-application that shows discrete information, often connected to the Internet. And with increasing technology, we would like to save our time by building these widgets and using them directly from our desktop.
Being from a middle class family and still a college student, Railways is the best means of transport for me as ail tickets cost a lot. So, every time when I need to travel through train, I had to search for seats availability, fares, booking my tickets online, etc. we have many sites for this like www.indianrail.gov.in, ww.irctc.co.in, etc. but I am never satisfied with these because of their poor services, lots of Ads, large amount of time they took, server failure, etc. And this is not the problem faced by me only, everyone who travels through Train (obviously those who use Internet are included in this) had to suffer through it.
What if we have a widget for Indian railway?? I guess it’s a cool idea to design such a widget.
I would like to see a widget which has following features:-
1) Option to check our PNR status.
2) A interface which can be used to find trains between any two stations on any particular date with some other options like Class in which you would like to travel, option for return Journey details, Option for Direct train or trains with stops.
3) Which shows about the availability of Seats/Berths for each particular train between any two stations we searched for.
4) Calculates the fare for travel between the two stations.
5) Tells the distance between any two stations.
6) A user friendly application where we can book out tickets while making payment through Online banking and various other payment gateways like Credit Card, Debit Card, etc.
7) Option for ordering our meal (if available)
8) Facility to check the Arrival and Departure Status of any train on any date.
9) Tourist Places in and around any particular station
10) SMS service to message our details directly from laptop to mobile phone so that we can keep a record of our ticket details with us. Also a email service to mail our ticket directly to our Email Address.
There are some security issues with it but even it can be tackled by creating User accounts as it is done in Indian railway Portal website.
There doesn’t exist any such kind of Widget presently and if someone is able to make such a widget, it is going to be a hit for sure. I am so confident about it as it will cater the needs of millions of people of India traveling daily through trains. Instead of going to a website, they can book their tickets directly from their desktop screen. I like this idea very much and even I am looking forward to build such a widget in future as a part of my project work in my university.

Social Media, Internship, Tarun, India
...
Few days
back when I saw post about marketing internship of Opera, I asked myself "Just what, exactly, is social media?" Over the past few months I have been reading a number of thoughtful articles, speeches, columns, and citations that present in one form or another possible answer to this question. You'd think it'd be a slam dunk. It's not.
Then, I took a look at Wikipedia. Certainly I'd find the answer there. And I did...sort of. Actually, what I found was even better. I found a discussion of what social media may be. It's a sort of recursive irony wherein one of the ultimate social media platforms is used to define social media itself. What really caught my attention, though, was the two distinct camps forming around the definition of social media. The two camps are – folks who put the "social" in "social media" (people who put their thoughts to blogs or photos and videos or any thousands of the places where self made content can be shared. The other camp? Marketers. For them, the term "media" has their attention and they're still trying to figure out the "social" part of it.
I think Social Media is about trying different things and seeing what works and then conducting an analysis to see what work and what didn't. It doesn't matter if you have the right tone for social media. What matters is that you have the right soul for social media.[/B]
