Then boot into one of the Linux distros on the main hard drive, with the flash drive removed, and update grub.
There are other more correct ways to do the same thing, but they're way more technical.

Oh well, hopefully Aadil, DH and whoever else, can help you Un-Destroy Semi's Chocolatito.

At the very least, it's probably seriously infected.

The Good News is that the Power Supply seems to be working.
I can see the Power On LED just fine.
The 2 Fans appear to work.
The Bad News is NOTHING else works.
No display. No Hard Drive Activity as evidenced by the Hard Drive Activity LED NOT blinking.
From what I understand, that Idiot Jackass Hoodlum Chick went in there without permission and used the Dell to supposedly "just charge my i-Pod." Yeah Right. I know better. She is a world class liar. She was there to illegally download songs. I know this because she was trying to teach my niece how to do that the other day. I told my niece on that day that NO! Do NOT be doing that because not only was that illegal, but she was gonna get my Dell computer infected.
Suntana # Saturday, May 5, 2012 10:28:33 PM
Screwed up worse than being infected. At least if it was infected, I could perform a reinstall and have it up & running.
But, no, I cannot even get to the point of the Dell acknowledging the Windows Reinstall CD.
My brother-in-law says that apparently at 1st only the Wireless Mouse & Wireless Keyboard had stopped working.
THEN the No Display soon followed.
My preliminary troubleshooting seems to indicate that very likely when that Idiot Nitwit Slimeball Chick hooked up her i-Pod to my Dell to supposedly just charge it, something went seriously wrong somehow and she blew the USB circuitry. I think she even blew the USB Laser Mouse because I just tried it on my HP Pavilion computer a while ago and it doesn't work.

So yes, her only business in that house was supposed to be to visit her son twice a week. She had NO business being on the computer or even in the computer room for that matter. That also infuriates me, that there she was in the very room that my Dad & I had to repair a wall and a door that were badly damaged in one of her many lunatic, psychotic episodes.
I had stressed to my sister that since my Dad & I had had to fix her destruction, she shouldn't even be allowed in that room for ANY reason. Her son isn't in there. And yet, now she has managed to destroy what was going to be my more advanced computer.
Oh well, the Popcorn I just finished was very good! http://files.myopera.com/Tamil/Smilies/Yahoo.gif -

I HAD dreaded that she might have burnt the Power Supply when I was told over the phone that now nothing worked, no display. But, nah. The Power Supply appears to be fine. The Green indicator on the Power Switch does come on. The CPU Fan and the Power Supply Fan appear to work ... or at least I hear some Fan activity. Just no display and zero Hard Drive Activity.
Not that I think it's going to work, but I'll try Booting it up in the morning. Sometimes on some rare occasions, problems go away after having the computer Powered Down for a good long time. Plus, MAYBE when I'm possibly more calm tomorrow, I'll be able to think more clearly and maybe something will come to mind to try that I haven't yet.

It's like my Dinos fight back ... "This is OUR house! Not YOUR house!"
I guess Chocolatito's keyboard is about as difficult to use as those stupid curved "Ergonomic" keyboards. Those are ridiculous. That's what my sister & brother-in-law had on my Dell. Well, actually they only had that because that's what came with their other computer, the one that has been in repair for a couple of forevers.
zrafatdjmd1 # Sunday, May 6, 2012 9:03:02 PM

Now I don't have a 3rd computer.
Therefore that tiny, micro chance that I might have played with Linux on my 3rd computer, the Gateway, has been eliminated. Now my Gateway with its Windows 98SE is back to being my backup computer.

So, dijo mi cuñado que, "We'll see what we can do."
Well SOMEONE owes me a computer. Unfortunately it won't be the guilty party, that lunatic chick who takes care of that. She has no money. She's facing court next month for those stabbings. And she'll probably wind up in prison or in an insane asylum.
So, by default, my sister & my brother-in-law will probably propose to have my Dell repaired since it WAS left in their care and they failed to keep lunatic chick away from it.
I'll offer them a cheaper solution. There are refurbished computers, which cost less than what it's going to cost to get the Dell repaired. Because not only will it need the Motherboard, but also ... with Windows, if the computer is out of warranty, you cannot replace the Motherboard and use the same Windows. You have to purchase a NEW Windows License.
zrafatdjmd1 # Monday, May 7, 2012 7:34:49 PM
A ti solamente te toca esperar.

In insane asylums, the residents are supposed to be walking around all drugged up and zombie-like.
In prisons, the inmates are supposed to be somewhat drugged up, lifting weights and causing mayhem.

That’s terribly good to my piece of old brain and I'm realizing Linux also have some advantages: looking clearly at those Recycler and $Recycle.bin folders, for instance (Windows doesn’t show those ones clearly).
As I can see Linux has such a huge quantity of appl progs that my life won't be enough to handle all of that mass (of according you... MESS)

Give me a newbie until he's hooked I will have him for the rest of his life aught to be the motto of Microsoft. Instead they have patent laws, FUD and secret deals with the top hardware suppliers.
The people who HAVE to pay for it don't quibble because it is a tax deductible loss. Governments don't quibble because Microsoft offers them such sweet deals.
Why do you suppose Tony Blair had Bill Gates knighted. An American with no ties to Britain, that owned a company that paid almost no taxes here and that has all its produce installed on our government's agencies' computers.
How did that happen when we had produced the first computer geniuses, the first elctro-mechanical data sorter, the Manchester Ferranti and the likes of Tim Berners-Lee?
I have no objection to Windows. What I object to is being sold to it when I was too ignorant to know better.

What Microsoft has succeeded in doing is getting a monopoly that people are too shy of breaking free from. And these people are hampered by their employers, governments and all sorts.
I am a fanboi. But only so far as I like to complain and have just cause, not because I have found a system more reliable and easier to use. I haven't.
What I have found is a system that takes less nursing all the time. And one that doesn't turn me into a criminal by default. When I think of the hours wasted trying to keep ahead of the curve with antiviruses and firewalls.
I don't even think about that stuff anymore. No more free offers on proversions to nag me. No more wondering if a site is safe to visit. No more fear of downloads.
And no more thinking about any of that either.
But he is right about the downside. I want to use my scanner bt I will have to open Windows for that. Here is an eye opener about what even dyed in the wool techies think wrongly about sometimes:

As I've mentioned before, I've learned things before just as if not more complicated than learning Linux.
Lazy? Nah.
As I alluded to before, I currently don't have a reason to want to learn Linux.
It's like for example. If I was going to buy a new vehicle right now, I wouldn't buy a truck. I have no use or need for a truck at this point. There's this guy I know who has TWO trucks. The type of guy he is, he has zero use for even 1 truck, let alone two. He doesn't carry anything. Heck, he's even scared of scratching the truck beds. WHY did he buy TWO trucks? It wouldn't have been as ridiculous if he had kept things at having 1 car and 1 truck.
Suntana # Wednesday, May 9, 2012 12:07:42 AM
Remember, that's exactly what happened to me when it finally became evident that I had to make the transition from MSDOS to Windows. The reason to learn Windows was finally there. Right now the reason, the need to learn Linux has not yet materialized ... for me anyway.
But, don't mind me, Teresa. Proceed with your Linux experiments. I'm just messing with you ... just like you mess with me. http://files.myopera.com/Tamil/Smilies/BigGrin.gif - Just making conversation. http://files.myopera.com/Tamil/Smilies/LOL.gif -
