Rafael Nadal was born in 1986 in Manacor (spain). Nadal has a sister called Maria Isabel.
Perhaps the biggest influence in Nadal’s life has been uncle and mentor Toni along with his girlfriend Maria Francisca Perello.
When Rafa was about 10 years old he could play tennis both with his left and right hands and played his ground-shots double-handed on both sides. Toni told him to play left handed as it gave him an advantage over his opponents. Until he was 12 he was far more interested in soccer.
At the age of 8 he won the Balearic Islands under 12 title, and this was his first big success. He has gone on to win 7 Roland Garros titles, and at this moment has 11 Grand slams. Anything Nadal does on the court is huge news in Spain and all over the world.
