Democracy and Communism

Democracy and Communism are not separate by any means. Without Democracy, Communism (Marxism, Leninism) doesnt exist at all. People always say that its DEMOCRACY -VS- THE COMMIES!!, when that is clearly not the case. Democracy is not an ideology like Communism; it is merely a function of any style of government that chooses to embrace its people. The Democracy you refer to is AMERICAN Democracy (Western, if your picky), which is the exact opposite of any sort of Communistic ideals. American Democracy does advocate the will of the people, but, IMO, leaves the people behind as soon as they have completed their roles – putting the leader into office. From there, the government functions on its own. There are ‘checks and balances’, but lets face it, the American people are enslaved – mainly because of PRIVATE interests who own the media, in all forms. Advertising, news reels, news papers, television, MOVIES (oh God, Hollywood is horrible) - private interests that hold more power than the masses of the nation.
Obviously though, what the world has seen over the last 100-150 years have not been the most elegant shows of Communism-in-practice. No one in their left-mind would argue that. And everyone has their own theories on why or why not, but mine is simple: nearly every single Com. Govt that has risen (and fallen) to/from power has been formed estranged from the people it represented. Lenin’s crew said they represented the interests of the Russian peasants – and this is true – but no one asked them. There was no way to get an opinion from the Russian people, because Lenin’s govt was ILLEGAL. And so what ended up happening is a very skewed, unflattering image of Communism, and anything that resembles it.
What needs to be taken into account is the hypocrisy of, admittedly ALL governments, but especially Western (American) Democracy. We’re told that we wage war to defend the rights of Man – and yet the Conservative Canadian Military knowingly hand over Afgan prisoners to local police to be killed, then LIE about it to the public when we call them on it. We’re told that we defend the right of all men to live freely and without fear, and yet we do NOTHING when we learn of the Chinese ‘Communist’ Govt’s LIVE organ harvesting from the ‘criminals’ belonging to a select banned religion, within their disfavourably occupied territories. Why is nothing done there? Because China holds us on its shoulders economically.
So all-in-all, there needs to be a balance. The world obviously cant function without the cold-heartedness of Capitalist profit, but it also cant function without the population-orientedness of Socialist-care. MIDDLE GROUND! The problem is that both sides are fighting for all the marbles, instead of sharing them.
