the sunny side of life

The sunny side of life goes on!

Friday evening and I am sitting here in Eden. No joke, hotel is called so! And it is a bit like Eden, lots of trees and nice plants and some hundreds funny birds outside my window. Just wondering if they will be a bit more quiet in the night than they are right now.. Day has been nice, still excellent weather and nice forrest. Only my blistered heel making me some troubles, but since it was only model event today that did not matter that much. Yestday I had planned to do only one training, but I ended up with two map-sessions. Enjoying orienteering again too much;)

Morning session was a long course, consisting of 4 butterflyes, in total a bit more than 11K, including some funny, steep hills. The steeper, the better!! Terrain was partly detailed, partly concisting of big, not very deep depressions. It was pretty sandy, so in the end my legs got pretty tired. Temperature was like a norwegian mid-summer, perfect! After a short break and some food and of course coffee and cake in Sao Pedro, I went for a short, second session. About 25 minutes of running in a very fast but difficult forrest near to Marinah Grande. Again it was a contour line map with no roads. That`s my absolut favourite kind of training, so I had a great time. Then coming home Daniela had prepared some local specialities for starters. following up with filets and and a heavenly good
mango mousse afterwards.
Hmm, life can be pretty nice!

Tomorrow we have a middle distance competition nearby Tocha, in a really tricky area. Last year I made some huge mistakes in that area, but the model event went ok, so I will put full focus on the technique tomorrow. In the evening there will be a sprint event in Praia de Tocha and if I get to it in between I will put some photos in here. Sunday there is WRE long in the dunas south of Tocha and then I will return home. Hopefully weather will be nice in Vienna too:).

The sunny side of life!Brr...still winter!
