Mission to Miskolc 2009

Next years WOC will take place in Miskolc, Hungary, and last week, excactly one year before WOC09, we went to Miskolc for our 3rd trainingcamp in this area. Last year we had our easter camp in Eger and our WOC-qualification races 2007 were held in the area of Miskolc. So, not very much new, but still very interesting! To make it short, here a summary of what you may expect for next years WOC:
High temperatures, high humidity: now we had 30-34 degrees on some days, even in the mountains..
Climbings: often steep, often deep (huge depressions), other areas are less steep, but you still get a lot of climbing together. In 8 trainings I had 2780 meters climbing...
Agressive nettles: AUTSCH! Why do nettles have to grow to a bigger-than-me-size???
Stones: start training your coordination and strength, you will need it! Some areas have really stony underground.
Beetles, flyes and other unfriendly flying things: stopping during a training is a bad idea, they try to creep into your eyes or to nutrite themselves from your body. Hot tipp: run so fast that they can't stay around your head, since the noise of them is really irritating.
Compass: will be necessary when passing/going away from the bigger depressions.
Route choices: well, no surprice, in the hills of the Miskolc area a bad routechoice can mean lots of unnecessary climbing and many minutes lost.
So, that was it, now I'll go for a run in a pancake-flat area!
