Vietnam has never been famous for its spas, luxury resort, or a culture of healing. In fact, many parts in the world, the war images of 30 years ago are the only ones most people have. But with a rapid growing in economy and increasing exposure to the West, it has become unremarkable here to drink $15 cocktail, buy Prada and Gucci and Smoke Havana cigars. These accoutrement of capitalism are changing Vietnam and, simultaneously, the world's impression of this newly modern country.

Traditional Vietnamese Tet (Lunar New Year) is the most important festival of the year. It is a week-long event in late January or early February when everything becomes very difficult. Prices are raised radically and all the services like hotels, transportation are commonly closed down. If traveling in this period, you should have a good schedule and preparation, few month in advance is quite necessary.
