Frome, Warminster, Trowbridge, Nunney Castle
...
Last weekend Julia had a Guiding event at Center Parcs Longleat, so I dropped her off and Milly and I had a mini road trip around the surrounding area. We visited Warminster (which was rubbish), Trowbridge which had a big shopping centre much to Milly's delight and we entered Somerset and visited Frome. There was plenty of stopping for coffee and shopping.
My original intention for going on our little trip was to take some photos on my new camera, but the weather wasn't very good. Nonetheless, having spent the morning in the shops, we asked at the Tourist Info place in Frome for some photogenic locations in the nearby countryside and were pointed mainly at Nunney Castle.
After a visit to some other places, Milly got a little bored so we went and had coffee in the grounds of Longleat Park and then met up with Julia

As I walked over the River Thames towards Waterloo the other day I heard some Jackson Five music and spotted these 118118 looking guys kind of playing tennis and dancing...

party, pudding
We recently hosted a potluck pudding party - the idea is you each bring a pudding and then everyone eats it

Not ideal when you're on a diet!!!

beach, BBQ, sunset
A couple of weeks ago, we joined Tracey and her friends down the beach for a BBQ, not bad considering it was mid-September

We played parachutes, ate and the kids played on the beach
Whilst we were packing up to go home a group of people turned up in full body wet suits and went for a swim - crazy!!!
On our way home I spotted a good sunset opportunity

Roxy Magic, Bryan Ferry, Roxy Music, Mr Kyps
Marcus, Tracey, Julia and I went to Mr Kyps in Parkstone the other day. We thought it would be good just going out for the night and we've often wondered what the Mr Kyps venue was like - anyway, we went along and listended to Roxy magic, a Roxy Music tribute band.
Although back in the day I may have enjoyed a bit of Bryan Ferry's warblings, that time has passed, so i can't say it was a particularly enjoyable night accoustically. But the company was great and it was good to go out...
...FWIW, the lead singer was a pretty good mimic of Mr Ferry

Country Fair, sheering, Wareham, owls
...
For the first time, there was a country fair in Wareham this summer. It was put on by a local chap who is a sheep sheerer (he's the one sheering the sheep in the photos). It was an excellent event but badly attended, when we were there, there was probably only about 20 or so people. Anyway, we had a great time and took our niece along.
There were some interesting things to see including an owl demonstration
baking
pretend cow milking
sheep sheering demonstration
a dog and duck show
there were also lots of animals to see and other things to look at, as you can see by clicking on the picture below

Lulworth, sea, Julia, me
In the summer Julia and I went down to Lulworth Cove one morning. I of course went along with my camera (this time my waterproof one). Julia even went into the sea!
Julia even went into the sea!
and whilst she was there took a photo from the sea (what's the point in having a waterproof camera if you're not going to get it wet) and took a photo of me from the sea
you can view some more photos of our trip bt clicking on the piccy below

cake, SANDS, cream tea, cookie monster
My mum, dad and sister held a fundraising cream tea event at my parent's house this Saturday. It was to raise money for the charity SANDS for premature and stillborn deaths (in memory of baby Charlie). The cakes and cream teas were flowing, so was the raffle and they raised £305!
One of my mum's friend's daughter made some cookie monster cakes which looked very good, and tasted even better.
