,

We went and helped out at a fashion show my sister organised to raise money for the SANDS charity. Julia did the compering, I helped get keep the kids in order, my son was on the door and daughter helped with the raffle.

It was a succesful event and helped raise hundreds of pounds.

Here's a piccy of my sister and mum just as they're about to do their bit on the catwalk.

Happy Birthday Mum

, , ,

It was my mum's birthday yesterday

so we all went out for a family meal in Tadley near my sister's.

The meal was great and afterwards we went to my sister's house, played a round of Uno and had tea and of course some birthday cake.

We then had some fireworks

followed by sparklers (or sprinklers as one of the kids called them) where the kids wrote messages in the dark

The last one there being "to infinity and beyond"

Big Gig

, , ,

Spent the weekend in Reading. Julia and my daughter travelled to Manchester to attend a Guide's pop concert which they thoroughly enjoyed. They saw acts like Hoosiers, Natasha Bedingfield, Kate Nash, Calvin Harris and Amelie. They met up with Debbie who also went to the concert, whilst my son and I hung out in Reading.

We stayed overnight with my parents as Julia didn't get back till late, and popped into see my sister and family on the way home.

A thoroughly great weekend, but tiring!

Fun and games at tea time

,

Julia bought a new game this weekend called Hidden Agenda. It involves strapping a card to your forehead whilst you talk about a topic in the way described on the card - the person wearing the card has to work out what the card says.

My daughter wasn't so keen to be seen wearing the card

Family night out

, , , ...

We all went out this evening for a fun time, partly to celebrate the fact that I have now finished the last piece of work I had to do for my Masters Degree (hooray!!!!).

We had dinner at TGI's and then went bowling,

with some video game playing

Tuesday nights are good for bowling - you pay a fiver each all night; that said 3 games was enough for us. We spent the fourth game messing around with my son and I trying to out do each other with bowling speed (I got up to nearly 22 mph).

Le Mans Series

, ,

I went to Silverstone this weekend, with my dad, brov-in-law and best mate

We went to see the Le Mans Series race. We went for both days so saw the qualifying and practice laps as well as the main feature race which was 6 hours endurance over 196 laps of Silverstone.

As well as the Le Mans cars we also saw Spiders, Classic Endurance and Radicals

There was hardly anyone there, so we were able to get decent seats in the stands as well as watch the chequered flag at the end of the endurance race with the podium presentations

back to work

,

Well two weeks holiday has passed and I'm back to work today.

We've had a great 2 weeks, for what was an adventure holiday based from home. We managed to fit in a trip to Thorpe Park, horse riding in the New Forest, feeding deer in the New Forest, kayaking along the Jurrasic Coast, a ride in a hot air balloon, some sailing, paintballing and a visit to an arts festival. We also managed to do some jobs round the house and fit in some shopping, with mum, dad and my nieces joining us for their own holiday based from our home in the second week.

A good time was had by all

Just back to reality now - the kids are back at school on Wednesday and Julia is back to work tomorrow.

Roll on the next holiday

Upton Arts

, , ,

Today we went to Upton Country Park to an art festival with mum, dad and the girls. We started off with a picnic for lunch.

There were activities which the girls enjoyed including making mobiles for the garden, reed butterflies and circus tricks, as well as live music.

Shopping

Julia and I went to Southampton today for a look round the shops. We spent the afternoon wandering and I spent some of my birthday money. Then we went to TGI Friday's for dinner.

My son spent the day with his friends in Swanage and my daughter spent the day with Maureen, who took her to a circus show this evening.
