Bank Holiday Monday

, , , ...

Mum and Dad and the girls came today. We hung round the house most of the day and went down to Sandbanks for tea.

We had fish and chips on the beach and then took some photos of the magnificent sunset across Poole harbour.

Jurassic Kayaking

, , ,

Yesterday we went on a kayak tour of the Jurrasic coastline from Lulworth Cove round to Durdle Door and back again. My daughter and I shared one sit on kayak, whilst Julia and my son shared another.

It was great, and although I'm not a water loving person I absolutely loved it.

We set off from Lulworth Cove,

and saw numerous sites along the way

(I'll put some more photos in the photo gallery)

including Durdle Door - in fact we went through the door in our kayaks

We then beached at Durdle Door for a drink and snack...

and then paddled back to Lulworth, where Julia and the kids had a little swim

Maureen's birthday

, , ,

It was my mother-in-law's birthday yesterday - Happy Birthday Maureen.

We went for birthday lunch at Flame at Tower Park with Tracey and my niece. It was an eat all you can Chinese buffet.

In the afternoon we then went to Burley in the New Forest, had a look round

and then took a tractor trailer ride to feed the deer in Burley Park (more pictures in the photo gallery).

A cup of tea and some birthday cake then followed

with proper tea at Tracey's in the evening.

Another lovely day out

Milly comes back from Thorpe Park with a trophy, Julia comes back from Winton with a tan

Shopping and KFC

, , , ...

Today we went into Poole, had a look round some shops, met our son at the bus station (who'd been away with his natural father in Newquay for the week) and had KFC for lunch in Poole Park.

Afterwards, we stopped off at B&Q for some anti-weed material for our garden path and a new shower screen. We spent the afternoon fixing our back garden path, with cooked tea and a movie in the evening.

Off camping

, ,

Packing the wife and daughter off today. They're off to a guide's camp until Thursday. Hope the weather holds up for them

Municipal Waste

, , , ...

My son went to his first live gig last night in Southampton. It was to see a band called Municipal Waste (a load of rubbish - boom boom! although I have listened to their CD  ). We dropped him off at the Joiners around 19:45 and picked him up at 11:00, in an area of Southampton called St Mary's because of the church

Meanwhile, Julia and I wandered round the area, had a romantic coffee with a lovely sunset, down at the docks and ended up in Frankie & Bennies for a burger.

Pirate

,

Like a true pirate travelling the high seas, my son came back from his Tall Ship adventure with his ear pierced with a skull and cross bones!

The adventurer/sailor returns

,

Our son has been crewing a tall ship all week and came back today. He's had a great time and full of tales of travel and the stories of the high jinx him and the others got up to. I don't think he's got a taste for sailing from the trip, but more a taste for having a holiday with his mates and having a good time.

Tall Ships

,

My son set off on an epic 10 day Tall Ship trip with the local youth service last night. He's crewing a tall ship for about 8 of those days.

My passing comment to him was if water rations get short, not to drink anyone else's eurine  (viz-a-viz Blackadder with Tom Baker as the ship's Captain...) and that we won't fall for the "I've brought some wine home" trick that Baldrick played).

He seemed very excited to be going, although perhaps a little apprehensive when they were setting off. Brave for anyone to do something like that in my book.
