Saturday

, ,

This Saturday Julia went off to Devon for a Guides media course whilst I stayed at home, did some jobs round the house and took the dogs on the previously blogged walk along the Castleman Trailway. In the evening we went over to Maureen's. Colin and Sharon were down for the weekend.

Christmas Day

, ,

We were up at about 06:30. Even though the kids are teenagers we still wake up early on Christmas day - I'm too excited to sleep  My son was up anyway, so it was just my daughter who needed waking up.

We all opened our stockings, had some breakfast and got the Turkey cooking. We watched some of Julia's Alan Carr DVD and then opened the tree presents

We then had a really tasty dinner

which included setting fire to home made Christmas pud

We're now chilling in front of the telly playing with our Christmas gifts and relaxing

Happy Christmas everyone

Happy Birthday Mum

, , ,

It was my mum's birthday yesterday

so we all went out for a family meal in Tadley near my sister's.

The meal was great and afterwards we went to my sister's house, played a round of Uno and had tea and of course some birthday cake.

We then had some fireworks

followed by sparklers (or sprinklers as one of the kids called them) where the kids wrote messages in the dark

The last one there being "to infinity and beyond"

Photos, balloons and food

, ,

We went to a studio to have some professional family photos taken. After lots of frivolity and rolling around on the ground (they all seem to have to bundle on top of me!) we headed to TGIs for tea. Whilst there Julia and the kids had balloon sculputures made - Julia went for a ladybird...

Tuesday in Madrid

, ,

Not deterred by not finding anything open the day before we headed to the Palacio Real again. On the way we enjoyed some entertainment in the form of Madrid Police traffic control. There's plenty of whistle blowing and hand waving and gesturing, but no one seemed to crash or run anyone over.

All this fun with the traffic had something to do with a Red Cross event in Plaza Mayor involving some Spainish officials. There were police everywhere and then eventually a cavalcade went past.

We eventually made it the Royal Palace. It was an amazing place. There was no furniture but some amazing art and 3D ceiling work.

The afternoon was spent at the Museo Del Prado a massive art gallery.

We had dinner in the evening in a restaurant claiming to be the oldest Inn in the world (this was the restaurant in Cava Baja that we looked for on Sunday) and had a delicious lamb dinner, followed by Churro and thick hot chocolate
