Travelling by train

I'm in London today and here are some observations/comments/rants/whatever about travelling by train.

I travelled to London today from mum and dads (as I needed to be in earlier than I could sensibly manage from home). The journey took approx 40 mins which is close to 2 hours quicker than travelling from home, but I only paid 5ukp less; not only that I had to stand for most of the journey :frown: due to lack of seats; and finally the journey is less comfortable than the one from home on South West trains - there is less room and the trains are hotter.

Rant over.

Luxembourg Trip

I was in Luxembourg last week, business not pleasure - I was attending the Safer Internet Forum).

I had an extra night there (staying at the Hilton) because of flights back to the UK so I joined up with a work colleague (from Easynet) and we hit Luxembourg City. We had dinner at a Luxembourg/cow version of TGI Friday's (they had cow print on the wall and the carpet, with models of cows all round the restaurant; and you got a plastic cow's head stuck in yer steak . Afterwards we wandered round the city as there was a music festival, so we listened to a little alternative rock, pop-rock and classical (unfortunately we didn't stay long enough for when the DJs came out).

Trip to Manchester

Julia and I flew up to Manchester from Southampton at the end of May, and stayed with Debbie and Panos for the weekend (photos in the gallery).

We did lots of shopping and went to a nice town called Knutsford, which apparently has the largest concentration of milionaires in the UK, which was proven by the number of posh cars we saw (Humers, Mercs, Ferraris).

On the Sunday Julia and Debbie went shopping again, Panos went to work and I watched the eventful Monaco GP.
