I tried to get a shot like this (this is the actual photo - it's not a cropped shot) of Lewis as he did his parade lap after the race but failed, mainly due to all the people in the way (the atmosphere was amazing). But I was chuffed to get this one of Rubens who was happy to have finished 3rd.

This sign popped on the big screen 3 laps till the end of the British GP. They were obviously expecting the crowds to be chuffed with Hamiltons win

British Grand Prix Weekend

, , , ...

I spent Friday, Saturday and yesterday with my Dad and friends David and Panos at Silverstone for the British F1 Grand Prix.

We had a great time and of course saw Lewis Hamilton win his first British GP in style.

Friday was practice day - a couple of sessions of F1, plus practice for Formula BMW, GP2 and Porsche Supercup

Saturday was qualifying day and included a Formula BMW race.

It was also the first time we'd seen F1 in the wet, with the morning practice session taking place after a down pour (it rained for about half an hour just as we arrived at the circuit about 07:30). It was awesome to see the cars battling with the wet track but still maintaining an amazing pace.

Sunday was the big day. We didn't have parking passes for the track so had to use the free park and ride. We caught the first bus to the circuit at 04:45 and yet still couldn't get the viewing position we wanted due to all the campers who'd got to the circuit when it opened at 05:00!. None the less we got a great viewing position opposite a TV screen at Club corner. It rained pretty much all day from when we got there at 05:15 to when the F1 race began at 13:00, but that didn't dampen our spirit. It was a great race with Lewis taking second (he started fourth on the grid) at the first corner and then taking the lead, and he led then till the end, whilst all around him cars went off in the went conditions.

Hooray for Hamilton!
