manchester, weekend, friends
Julia and I spent a long weekend with our friends Debbie and Panos in Manchester this weekend and despite the 9 hours driving on Friday we had a brilliant time.
Photos of our weekend can be see by clicking on the slide show below

...
I got together with my bestest mates Simon and Neil this weekend, at Neils. We probably haven't got together like this for about 10 years. We spent yesterday afternoon chatting and drinking,
then headed out to Fareham for more drinks and a curry. Then went back to Neil's and played on the Wii until the early hours (not easy when you've had a few too many drinks)
We spent today (Sunday) at Neils, waking up to significant snow fall
We took a brisk walk (it was freezing) after Neil had cooked us a fry up
and got back in time to watch a disappointing (from a Lewis Hamilton point of view) Bahrain F1 GP and more Wii game play.
I had an excellent time - plenty of laughs - thanks Neil and Simon

I went to Silverstone this weekend, with my dad, brov-in-law and best mate
We went to see the Le Mans Series race. We went for both days so saw the qualifying and practice laps as well as the main feature race which was 6 hours endurance over 196 laps of Silverstone.
As well as the Le Mans cars we also saw Spiders, Classic Endurance and Radicals
There was hardly anyone there, so we were able to get decent seats in the stands as well as watch the chequered flag at the end of the endurance race with the podium presentations

I held an F1 party yesterday for the British GP. The lads came round and we watched the F1 coverage. We were all a bit disappointed that Lewis only came 3rd but hey he left Silverstone in the lead in the championship and finished on the podium (again!).

We can't remember how long ago our last "lads weekend" was, but we reckon it was about 6 years ago that Simon and Neil saw each other, but this weekend (well Saturday mainly) we had a reunion.
Lads weekends were always about eating curry, drinking lots and just having an excellent time. And although we didn't consume as much alcohol this time (well I didn't

) we had a great time.
We spent the afternoon over at Simon's house (where my sister and family were also visiting) then went the Gurkha restaurant in the evening for dinner, finished off with some drinks in the Sandford Arms.
It was great to get together and have promised ourselves it won't be another 6+ years till the next time.

birthdays, friends
We all went over to Dee and John's for a Dee's birthday celebrations. Fun was had for all and it was great catching up with people we hadn't seen for a while (plus we ate ourselves silly with all the nice birthday grub).
Happy Birthday Dee.

We tried out a new-ish restaurant in Sandford, nr Wareham last night. It's a all you can eat Gurkha buffet for £11.95 a head and the food is a mixture of indian, nepalese and chinese. The food is delicious although it's left me with a bad taste in my mouth this morning.
We went with mum and dad who are staying with us this weekend and Dee and John

I love celebrity, friends
I went to a talk today from a budding author
Lee Crompton. He talked about how he had gone about self publishing his first two novels and the problems he has had engaging agents and publishers.
The talk was brilliant, but what was coolest was catching up with Lee after not seeing him for so many years. Lee is a school friend of
Beerbelly and when I was somewhat younger and visited Beerbelly, we occasionally met up with Lee or went to parties.
Anyway, Lee, if you're reading this (you said you'd take a look at my blog) it was good to see you and good luck with your writing.
