Julia and I spent a long weekend with our friends Debbie and Panos in Manchester this weekend and despite the 9 hours driving on Friday we had a brilliant time.

Spent yesterday travelling to and visiting work in Sale, Manchester. I don't think I've every been there before - this is the town

and the nearby canal

and it's easy to get to by Metrolink

My flight to Manchester was delayed by 1 hour 40 minutes this morning due to a broken down plane. Fortunately I was still able to get to the office in time for my meetings but would have preferred a lie in, had I known it was going to be late!

Just hope my flight home isn't delayed - I'm getting home late as it is :frown:

Spent the weekend in Reading. Julia and my daughter travelled to Manchester to attend a Guide's pop concert which they thoroughly enjoyed. They saw acts like Hoosiers, Natasha Bedingfield, Kate Nash, Calvin Harris and Amelie. They met up with Debbie who also went to the concert, whilst my son and I hung out in Reading.

We stayed overnight with my parents as Julia didn't get back till late, and popped into see my sister and family on the way home.

A thoroughly great weekend, but tiring!

We were going to visit the lakes but it is was a grey, wet and windy day today, so we went into Manchester instead.

We went to the Northern Quarter, had some lunch in the Printworks, had a look around Urbis and a look round the shops.

Manchester Canal

Stayed up in Manchester last night at the Jurys Inn Hotel. It's an odd place. Just off Oxford Road/Oxford Street, there's offices and large hotels and a little green coloured "traditional" pub and the canal.
