Christmas get together

, , ,

Mum and dad, Michelle, Steve and the girls came to see us today

Our Christmas crackers had a musical theme including whistles with Grandad Jim conducting the whistle orchestra everyone tried to play out a whistle Christmas tune

We also played a game of balloon roulette (you pass round a balloon spin a dial and if you're lucky you get to pass it one before the balloon bursts)

Big Gig

, , ,

Spent the weekend in Reading. Julia and my daughter travelled to Manchester to attend a Guide's pop concert which they thoroughly enjoyed. They saw acts like Hoosiers, Natasha Bedingfield, Kate Nash, Calvin Harris and Amelie. They met up with Debbie who also went to the concert, whilst my son and I hung out in Reading.

We stayed overnight with my parents as Julia didn't get back till late, and popped into see my sister and family on the way home.

A thoroughly great weekend, but tiring!

Upton Arts

, , ,

Today we went to Upton Country Park to an art festival with mum, dad and the girls. We started off with a picnic for lunch.

There were activities which the girls enjoyed including making mobiles for the garden, reed butterflies and circus tricks, as well as live music.

Municipal Waste

, , , ...

My son went to his first live gig last night in Southampton. It was to see a band called Municipal Waste (a load of rubbish - boom boom! although I have listened to their CD  ). We dropped him off at the Joiners around 19:45 and picked him up at 11:00, in an area of Southampton called St Mary's because of the church

Meanwhile, Julia and I wandered round the area, had a romantic coffee with a lovely sunset, down at the docks and ended up in Frankie & Bennies for a burger.

Cake Sale

, ,

Julia held a Guide's cake sale at the school Summer Fair yesterday. It's to raise money so the guides can go to The Big Gig in Manchester later in the year.

They raised just over £100 which is impressive given they we selling the cakes for 10p to 25p each! Well done

Guitars

,

I was in London this week and by the City Hall near London Bridge there were loads of guitars growing

Air guitar

, ,

On New Years Eve, dad put together an air guitar competition. I came third and Steve came second. I won a packet of smarties and a blow up guitar for my troubles. Oh, and my legs ached for ages afterwards as I recreated the lead singer of Iron Maiden's hop-shuffle on one leg (twice!) It's harder than it looks.
