I'm always in London and travelling to and from Waterloo, but I have never really noticed how ornate the station entrance is:

Train road trip

Had a bit of road trip via trains (if that's not a contradiction) these last couple of days. It meant that I stood and waited for trains at the following stations: Wareham, Bournemouth, Reading, Maidenhead, Paddington, Reading again, Mortimer, Tilehurst, Reading again, Paddington again, Waterloo!

Madrid Metro

Although we did a lot of walking in Madrid, we also took the Metro a couple of times. Overall it seemed quieter (not so many people), bigger and cleaner than the London Underground. Mobile phones seemed to work also.

The biggest observation was the cost. It only cost 1 Euro for one journey (although an extra Euro was charged for trips to some of the extremities of the network, like the airport). This is about half the cost of a zone 1 journey in London.

F'n'GBH tour

We begin our F'n'GBH tour today. Maureen and D are house, dog and duck sitting, whilst Julia, A and myself are off on a tour of Europe taking in France, Germany, Belgium and Netherlands.

We're currently sat in the terminal building for the chunnel. We got here in plenty of time but there is a potential of an hour and a half delay, but we don't mind because we're on holiday!!!

Here's a picture of us about to board the chunnel train:

Planes, Trains and Automobiles

No, not a review of the Steve Martin comedy film but a reflection of the modes of transport I've used over the last couple of days whilst travelling up to Manchester. To be fair feet and bus should also be included in the list.
