manchester, weekend, friends
Julia and I spent a long weekend with our friends Debbie and Panos in Manchester this weekend and despite the 9 hours driving on Friday we had a brilliant time.

family, cake, weekend
I've had a lovely weekend with niece this weekend. Her mum and Julia went away for the weekend together (it was a weekend away that Tracey had won in a competition), and so I looked after my niece.
We have had a great time: we've played with Barbies, we went for a walk to see the horses (although she was asleep by the time we got there) and we've done painting, but the highlight of the weekend has been making cup cakes and icing them.

and here is the result of our baking

weekend, south downs, hotel
Julia and I are enjoying a lovely weekend away. We're staying at a hotel in the South Downs (east of Southampton, north of Portsmouth).
We got here last night and had a lovely dinner at Greens Restaurant and Bar in Wickham Square. The food was really good, but a little pricey.
This morning I've been for a wander round the hotel grounds and local village, whilst Julia has had some beauty treatments. The hotel grounds boasted a "trim trail" which I avoided, and a woodland walk
It's great for the two of us to get away and thanks to my mother in law for house, animal and kid sitting.
Probably a visit to chichester this afternoon and maybe some swimming in the hotel swimming pool.

food, family, weekend
This Saturday Julia went off to Devon for a Guides media course whilst I stayed at home, did some jobs round the house and took the dogs on the previously blogged walk along the Castleman Trailway. In the evening we went over to Maureen's. Colin and Sharon were down for the weekend.

guides, Julia, shopping, weekend
...
This morning we attended a Remembrance service in the village. The Guides were in attendance with Julia and I (as a parish councillor should have been there in official capacity but didn't realise, so stood at the back).
We had a quick lunch then rushed to Bournemouth to have a look round the shops before our photo viewing session. We've had some professional photos done in a studio and went along to review the photos and decide which ones we wanted to buy. It took over an hour for us to decide but we got there in the end. It was great to have so many good ones to chose from.
Then some more shopping in Bournemouth and home for tea.

motorsport, weekend
We often wake up on a Sunday morning to a "whoompf whoompf" sound, as though a big bird is flapping its wings outside our bedroom window. In fact, it's cyclists - there seems to be regular races round our way and it's their bikes making the noise, so I snapped one of the blighters as he went past.

food, drink, weekend, friends
We can't remember how long ago our last "lads weekend" was, but we reckon it was about 6 years ago that Simon and Neil saw each other, but this weekend (well Saturday mainly) we had a reunion.
Lads weekends were always about eating curry, drinking lots and just having an excellent time. And although we didn't consume as much alcohol this time (well I didn't

) we had a great time.
We spent the afternoon over at Simon's house (where my sister and family were also visiting) then went the Gurkha restaurant in the evening for dinner, finished off with some drinks in the Sandford Arms.
It was great to get together and have promised ourselves it won't be another 6+ years till the next time.

weekend, decorating, home
Thank goodness for the bank holiday weekend. It took us all three days to get my daughter's bedroom finished, but it was worth it.
My daughter and I worked hard and it looks lovely.
